ME: Hello Chris Day ?
HIM: Yes ?
ME: This is Chris Day.
HIM: Yes it is. Who am I speaking with ?
ME: No I meant that my name is Chris Day too.
HIM: Oh ! OK ! Weird.
ME: I’m thinking about making a move to Bucks County Pennsylvania, and I decided to call you because I think that it would be really cool if Chris Day sold a house to Chris Day.
HIM: Well that could certainly be arranged.
ME: Cool.
HIM: Where do you live now ?
ME: South of Miami Florida.
HIM: And you want to move here ?
ME: No, not really.
HIM: I don’t blame you.
ME: Well thanks for your time anyway.
HIM: No problem Chris. It was fun.
ME: Same here Chris.

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts
If it’s Tuesday night (which it is) then it must be time for a mind-dump. That’s how I roll here on the ‘Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’. You know. I’m just keepin’ it real dudes !
1. Jesse keeps trying to bring me over to the dark side. First he wanted me to play basketball with him. Then he wanted me to eat sushi with him. Now he wants me to get a tattoo with him. How about 1 of the 3 ? I’ll eat sushi with you at this place in Homestead. Just tell me when and I’ll be there.
2. Call ‘311’ to reach your Miami-Dade County Government Information Center. I bring you this useful information on ‘3-11’ – the 11TH of March.
3. I don’t like Daylight Savings Time – especially in mid-March. It’s not right for me to be at work in the morning for over 90 minutes before the sun rises above the horizon.
4. It’s also not right for much of the nation to be under a foot or more of snow during Daylight Savings Time. What kind of summertime fun in the sun can you actually have at 6 and 7 at night when there’s a blizzard going on all around you ?
5. If I weren’t such a cheapskate Fiscal Conservative then I’d be utilizing a brand new state-of-the-art laptop instead of the hp pavilion zt1290 that I’ve been using for a little over 3 years now. It was state-of-the-art – in 2002 ! Maybe I’ll buy a new laptop later this year.
6. 19 out of 20 SUV drivers on the road today drive irresponsibly in my humble opinion. Do they actually know how fast the’re driving ?
7. Late in 2007 I was hovering above 170 pounds. I wanted to get back into the mid-160s (my ideal weight range). Yesterday I bottomed out frighteningly close to the upper-150s due to a lack of food in my stomach. Today I ate slightly better. I need to eat a better balanced diet on a regular basis and get back into the mid-160s again. Who wants to join me for steak ? Jesse ? Come on over to the dark side with me !
8. Homestead has nice fancy street lights all over the city along their major thoroughfares and within their new shopping center parking lots. It’s a shame that so many of them don’t work properly. I may need to draft an E-Mail to a few of my City Councilpersons addressing this problem. I’ve done it before. I’ll do it again.
9. For many people Sundays are a day of recuperating from the evils that were done on Saturday nights. For me Sundays are a day of celebrating my love of Jesus. It’s just 1 of 7 days of the week in which I celebrate what He did for me. It just happens to be the first day of the week.
10. Travis keeps referring to me as the ‘Director Of Cool’. It makes me sound like Arthur Fonzarelli AKA ‘The Fonz’ from Happy Days. If I’m ‘The Fonz’ then Travis is Richie Cunningham (used to be Opie Taylor), Paul is Ralph Malph, Jesse is Potsie, Phil is Chachi, Anne J. is Mrs. Cunningham, J.T. is Mr. Cunningham, and that guy that runs the Flagship Cinemas movie theatre is Big Al.
It’s just after 8:30 PM EDT on this wild and crazy Monday night, and I just got home from a full day of work (at the base) and even more work (at the church office) about an hour ago. I am so totally exhausted after this nearly 14-hour day away from home, but it was the funnest day I’ve enjoyed in recent memory ! I had an awesome time at both places of work.
It was fun hangin’ out with Travis, Paul, Jesse, Alex, and Anne (you need a blog too) at the church office this afternoon, and I now have a ton of new stuff that I need to set up on my computer here at home to get started with my new position as Life Pointe’s ‘Director Of Cool’ as Pastor Travis is tentatively referring to it, or as the ‘Director Of Life Pointe Connections’ as I am tentatively referring to it (until I come up with something even more catchier or at least relevant).
I’ll get it all ready and organized by this upcoming Saturday night. I’ll need to because I go to work and hit it hard on Sunday afternoon after I return home from the two services with everything that I need to do to get connected with everyone. I’m really looking forward to it all.
Well that’s what I’ve got for tonight as far as ‘Bedtime Stories’ is concerned. It’s my only blog entry for this Monday. I’ll be back on the blog tomorrow (Tuesday) after 4 PM with my most-anticipated ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’.
Have a safe, peaceful, and relaxing Monday night everyone, and until we blog again remember this:
Ace is the place with the helpful hardware man.
In a postscript to my ‘Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad’ I’ve got 4 other variations of what happened this morning at Life Pointe. Be sure to catch the following blogs from these fine Life Pointe bloggers:
-
Travis – He posted his ‘Sunday Wrap-Up’.
-
Phil – He posted his ‘Sunday Soup’.
-
Ritz – He posted his ‘Sunday Goosfraba’.
-
Anne – She posted her ‘Kids’ Life’ report.
A blogger can be defined as one who writes blogs, or one who reads blogs. You don’t need your own blog to be a blogger. If you are reading other peoples’ blogs then you are by definition a blogger. You are a blogger because you are reading this. Keep on blogging.
That’s ‘Bedtime Stories’ for this Sunday night. I’ll catch you on the flip side tomorrow (Monday) for some more blogging action. Until we meet again remember this:
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
[1] And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice — the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
[2] Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
