Saturday Morning Shenanigans

A friend sent this to me via E-Mail. It cracked me up severely.

For all of us who feel only the deepest love and affection for the way computers have enhanced our lives, read on.

At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, ‘If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.’

In response to Bill’s comments, General Motors issued a press release stating:

If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1.  For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash … Twice a day.

2.  Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you’d have to buy a new car.

3.  Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4.  Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you’d have to reinstall the engine.

5.  Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive – but would run on only 5% of the roads.

6.  The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single ‘This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation’ warning light.

7.  The airbag system would ask ‘Are you sure ?’ before deploying.

8.  Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9.  Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10.  You’d have to press the ‘Start’ button to turn the engine off.

P.S. – When all else fails, you could call ‘customer service’ in some foreign country and be instructed in some foreign language how to fix your car yourself !

Please share this with your friends who love – but sometimes hate – their computer !

Be sure to catch an all-new ‘Saturday Night Retro’ later today right here on the big green blog, but until then – REMEMBER THIS !

Friday Night Blogroll Review

Let it be known that the weekend has arrived. After 16 months in a row the saga that is the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ continues …

Travis wraps-up Sunday at Life Pointe.

Kelly presents a special Thursday edition of her award-winning ‘Sunday CHICK-Kabob’, and despite not featuring a single picture of me in the mix (again) I still present to her this week’s Major Bloggie Award !

You won’t catch my good friend P.J. wearing a soft yellow shirt, purple slacks, and a pink hat !

– My fellow 42-year-old friend Mark has a blog that has essentially evolved into a new type of ‘Drudge Report’ for Conservatives everywhere. Sometimes I get a headache reading his blogs (because they make me think too hard), but one blog entry stood out this past week, as I got to play with my toys known as numbers.

Dude this jam from Jesse and The Saturn Project like totally rocks my face off !  This is how I rock and roll !

Alex posted his TOP 5 favourite U.S. cities, and Miami is not one of them. It’s just not dope enough.

Ritz reviews the hot new album ‘Anthems For A Broken World’.

Let us all pray for Luci’s Dad.

See Pastor Paul on Ms. Annie’s blog !

My favourite Pastor in Weston kicks-off a fresh new message series on Easter Sunday, and it’s all about that one question that you would love to ask in church. I’ll be sending in a question of my own.

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– I enjoy doing these ‘Mini Thoughts’ in 15 words or less.
– It’s because I don’t have to form complete sentences.
– These are known as ‘quickies’.
– That’s because each ‘Mini Thought’ takes 3 seconds or less to read.
– And then you move on to the next one.
– These are spontaneous in nature.
– I have no idea what I’m gonna write until I do so.
– The Stock Market has been surging for the past half a month.
– My retirement savings plan is reaping the benefits of the surge.
– The recession has probably ended already.
– We won’t know for sure that it’s already ended for another 6 months or so.
Checkers now has wings.
– I haven’t picked-up Checkers food in about a dozen years.
– Nah it hasn’t been that long – but it’s been many years.
– Once upon a time it was part of my weekly Lunch schedule.
– And then I boycotted the place due to bad service.
– I’ll give them another chance – if only to check out their wings.
– I might see “I Love You, Man” this weekend at the box office.
– If I do then I’m hangin’ at Buffalo Wild Wings beforehand.
– The outside of my screened front porch is a magnet for millions of gnats.
– I sprayed Hot Shot Flying Insect Killer on them this afternoon.
– That should do the trick.
Ruth is one of my favourite rock bands on this journey.
– The’re from Washington State.
– The’re named after their lead singer’s last name.
– ‘RUTH’ is also an acronym for ‘Return Us To Him’.
– They love and follow Jesus.
– In 2007 they brought it with “Cross The Line”.
– In 2008 they rocked my theme song with “Who I Was And Who I Am”.
– In 2009 they hit all the right notes with “Back To The Five”.
– I absolutely adore this song.
– It’s an instant out-of-the-box radio smash !
– Check it out:

Bible Stories

It’s just past 9:30 PM on this Wednesday night as I begin this blog entry, and I returned home from Life Group about 20 minutes ago. It was another glorious night in complete awe of Him. It is never about us. It is always about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Leo D. led ‘Praise & Worship’ via guitar as Patricia, Carol, and I sang back-up vocals to “Above All”, “All Creation Worships You”, “You’re Worthy Of My Praise”, and “Let My Words Be Few”. Music is one of my fun hobbies in Life, and it makes it so very special when I can sing to God. He is always listening to me. 31 months ago God used music to rescue me from the darkness, save me, and lead me by His hand onto His journey that He created especially for me. He took something that He knew I enjoyed, and He used it to show me His light.

Tonight’s teaching (led by Leo D.) was based on the following truths out of the Good News:
– Galatians 5:16-26 – ‘Living By The Spirit’s Power’
– Ephesians 6:10-20 – ‘The Whole Armor Of God’
– Matthew 5:3-12 – ‘The Beatitudes’

‘The Whole Armor Of God’ is truly special to me, as it was one of the first Scriptures out of His Good News that I specifically set out to read many times over, analyze, understand its meaning, and learn how I can apply it to this precious new Life of mine. That was early on during this fantastic journey just about 2 years ago. Anne J. was one of my early Life Pointe Church mentors during this fragile period of my journey. Shortly after I bought my very first Bible ever (New Living Translation – recommended by another mentor Pastor Travis) Anne J. bought me a really nice cover to protect my Bible. Down at the bottom of the front of the cover there’s an inscription of a sword followed by ‘Eph. 6:17’.

Ephesians 6:17 – Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I will always wear ‘The Whole Armor Of God’ to protect me from future invasions of evil and darkness. Satan doesn’t know who I am anymore, but that’s not going to stop him from trying even harder to bring me back to his world of sins. He’s a total loser. God’s in charge here. He’s all-powerful. He’s awesome !
