It’s the 75TH edition of the 3RD life of my personal hit music chart, and it’s still going strong, and it’s still a lot of fun to compile and share each week.

Stars Go Dim debut at # 10 this week. Their 2016 U.S. # 1 smash “You Are Loved” is an awesome song that I hear almost daily on my orange iPod Shuffle at work. You may remember the recent ADT ad campaign on TV featuring the song. Here’s the official music video to remind you of just how much God loves you:

This concludes my 4 blogs this weekend. I’ll be back next weekend with all-new blogs on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest. Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to win souls for Christ. Enjoy this week. Love all of God’s children.

Bible Christian God Ministry Scripture

Sunday Scripture

Today after our Lead Pastor Bob preached a fun yet powerful sermon that made me smile and laugh I followed him up with Scripture from 1 John Chapter 2 Verses 1 to 6:

My dear children – I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin – we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ – the One who is truly righteous. He Himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins – and not only our sins – but the sins of all the world.

And we can be sure that we know Him if we obey His Commandments. If someone claims – “I know God” – but doesn’t obey God’s Commandments – that person is a liar and is not living in the Truth. But those who obey God’s Word truly show how completely they love Him. That is how we know we are living in Him. Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.

So how do we live our lives as Jesus did ?  Get in His Word. Learn His Truth. In other words – open the Bible. Read it. Study it. Do so at every opportunity. With today’s modern technology you can take the Bible everywhere you go via smart phone app. The more you read about God – the more you learn about His ways – the more you’ll want to be more like Him.

Pray to God. Just talk to Him in your own words – anywhere – anytime. Tell Him what is on your mind. He already knows, but He wants to hear it from you – in your voice. He wants you to ask Him for guidance and direction. He will always provide it.

Spend time in fellowship with your closest brothers and sisters of your immediate church family, and also spend quality time with those around you who do not yet believe and follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Share God’s Good News with them. Let them see Christ in you – not just by the way you talk – but also by the way you walk your fantastic journey. Share your lives with all, and love all of God’s children.

That’s how we live our lives as Jesus did. That’s how we expand God’s Kingdom here on Earth.

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1988

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday July 24TH 1988:

  1. “I Don’t Wanna Go On With You Like That” – Elton John
  2. “Lost In You” – Rod Stewart
  3. “Simply Irresistible” – Robert Palmer
  4. “Hole In My Heart” – Cyndi Lauper
  5. “Do You Love Me ?” – The Contours

I’ve got an old-school early-2010s-era iPod Shuffle (4TH Generation – orange in color) that I listen to at work, and it’s essentially got 305 of the greatest hits of my lifetime – from the mid-1960s clear through to present-day time. 120 of the 305 are hits before 1980, and another 45 hits are from the 1980s.

Looking back at my entire Top 40 chart for this weekend exactly 30 years ago there are a few songs that are on my iPod Shuffle, so I hear them almost every day at work:  Guns ‘N Roses debuted with their massive smash – “Sweet Child O’ Mine” – at # 37. I consider it to be one of the greatest hard rock songs of its time. Cheap Trick’s “The Flame” rose to # 28. It still sounds fresh today – just like it did in 1988. Additionally Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible” (# 3) is a long-running hit on my iPod Shuffle – garnering 864 plays over the past 6½ years.

# 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for this weekend exactly 30 years ago – Richard Marx with “Hold On To The Nights”.

It’s halftime. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with my remaining two blogs for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Make memories of a lifetime !

TBN Shows

I’m relatively new with TBN. It’s been around for 45 years, but I’ve only been a viewer for the past couple of years. I started watching because of the classic (30-minute edition) Billy Graham Crusades on Saturday nights (now Saturday afternoons at 5 PM ET).

Nowadays I watch (or DVR) Billy Graham, Mike Huckabee, Mike Rowe, and Bobby Schuller on Saturday nights, Mark Batterson on Monday nights, and Steven Furtick and Dave Stotts (“Drive-Thru History”) on Wednesday nights.

Some observations:

  • I love watching (and learning from) classic Billy Graham. I tell my church family that I met Billy Graham for the first time when he was in his late-90s and I was in my late-40s – not in-person, but on TV. He’s my TV Pastor. I will visit his library in Charlotte one of these years.
  • I want to visit the greater Nashville area and attend a taping of “Huckabee”. His show is a lot of fun. It’s where politics, comedy, and variety meet. It’s really an upgrade over his previous Fox News Channel show on Saturday nights. He was always my first choice as a Presidential candidate.
  • I want to visit Southern California (for the first time ever) and attend a Sunday morning church service led by Pastor Bobby Schuller. I like his simple preaching style. My preaching style is similar to his, but my material is closer to that of my TV Pastor Billy Graham.
  • Pastor Steven Furtick (out of Charlotte) can be annoying at times – especially when he starts yelling – but I’ve noticed myself picking-up some of his unique mannerisms as well – minus the yelling. I’m not a yelling preacher. Sometimes I raise my voice for effect though. (Everyone say “effect”.)
  • Finally there’s Dave Stotts. This guy is very intelligent, and he knows the Bible. He’s also amusing and sometimes downright hilarious on his travel show through the modern-day Holy Land. I just want to hang out and go on a road-trip with him and laugh and learn.

Anyone on TBN you like to watch ?  Let me know !
