Bible Christian Church God Ministry Scripture

Sunday Scripture

After 2 weeks off our Lead Pastor and our Praise & Worship Pastor returned back home to where they belong – up on stage and leading our church family in music and message.

Our Lead Pastor preached from the first-half of Ezekiel 37 with his sermon titled, “Can These Dry Bones Live ?” The answer is “YES !”

For most of us who are born again God rescued us when we were at our lowest of low points of our life. He rescued us from the valley floor.

He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. (Psalm 40:2 NLT)

We were dead because of our sins, but God did not leave us in the pit. He lifted us out. He gave us life by His Spirit. He transformed us into a new creation. He gave us a purpose for a new life. We didn’t deserve any of that. But God chose us. He gave us grace and mercy.

This is what the Sovereign LORD says:  “Look !  I am going to put breath into you and make you live again !  I will put flesh and muscles on you and cover you with skin. I will put breath into you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.”  (Ezekiel 37:5-6 NLT)

It was a great message from our Lead Pastor. I appreciate his sermons from the Old Testament. I plan to spend more time reading and studying the Old Testament. Most of my sermons over the past 2½ years have been based on the New Testament. (It’s what I “grew up with” during my years as a baby Christian.) My next sermon that I’ll preach is titled “Gloom & Despair”, and it’s based on Psalms 34, 40, and 150. My next sermon after that (which I’m currently writing) is tentatively titled “Pray & Believe”, and it’ll be all about the power of prayer. For my next sermon after that I’m studying The Book Of Jeremiah. There’s 52 chapters there, so I need to narrow it down to the one (or portion of one) that I hope to share with my church family in a 35 to 45-minute message.

One of my favorite Twitter accounts to follow is @TheMajestysMen. There’s Good News posted there every day. This morning the following was tweeted, and I ended-up sharing it with my church family:

Read more than you write.
Listen more than you speak.
Pray more than you preach.
Compliment more than you correct.

I followed that up with Proverbs 16:24 – Kind words are like honey – sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1999

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday March 21ST 1999:

  1. “Nobody’s Supposed To Be Here” – Deborah Cox
  2. “Slide” – Goo Goo Dolls
  3. “We Like To Party” – Vengaboys
  4. “C’est La Vie” – B*Witched
  5. “That Don’t Impress Me Much” – Shania Twain

I looked at my chart that was online exactly 20 years ago this weekend – back when I was the proud owner of my original dot-com web site (that was actually worth a lot of money at the time). And then the bubble burst in 2000.

My web site was actually an affiliate of the once-proud CDNow web site – once a billion dollar music store company on the web. CDNow swallowed-up smaller music companies during the late-1990s. And then the bubble burst in 2000.

What a wild and crazy time it was back during the infancy of the World Wide Web. Much of our younger generation today don’t know what the web is, but they sure know how to work an app on a smart phone or a tablet. I’m still on the web, and as history repeats itself – I’ve got my own dot-com web site again. (This blog is at http://www.revchrismday.com.)

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Go outside and have some fun in the sun !

Weekend Kickoff Mini-Thoughts

Once upon a time during the early years of this blog one of my weekly features was the “Thursday Night Mini-Thoughts”. It’s where I got spontaneous, and I typed thoughts directly from my mind onto my keyboard in 15 words or less. I did 69 editions of these Mini-Thoughts from early-2009 to mid-2010, and it was a lot of fun while it lasted. I don’t plan to bring it back as a regular weekly feature, but here goes the 70TH edition:

  • It’s Spring y’all !
  • It began last night at 5:58 PM EDT.
  • The Sun is on our side of the Equator now !
  • It’s actually “chilly” here in South Florida.
  • We could feel wind chills in the upper-40s on Friday and Saturday mornings !
  • We may not even hit 80°F on Friday and Saturday !
  • I feel like going out and doing something fun out in the sun this Saturday.
  • I may visit the Fruit & Spice Park a few miles away.
  • It’s been almost 4 years since my last visit.
  • It’s a fun place to walk around and enjoy nature.
  • I’ll also take a narrated tram tour through the fruits and spices. #FreeSamples
  • If I get the call to preach this Sunday then those plans are out the window.
  • My brackets are busted.
  • Actually I have no idea how to fill out brackets for March Madness.
  • I also don’t watch or know much about College Basketball.
  • I’m a lifelong fan of the NFL.
  • It’s still a little over 4 months until NFL Preseason begins.
  • “Dr. Pimple Popper” is one of the top shows on TLC.
  • It’s on the same night / same time as “Toe Bro” – a doctor that works on toes.
  • There’s a lot of weird reality shows on cable TV nowadays.
  • I avoid most of them.
  • I do have a new Sunday night addiction though.
  • I watch the entire HGTV line-up of couples seeking and buying beach homes.
  • I’m looking to buy my retirement home in a few years.
  • It’ll be in Central Florida, but it won’t be at or near the beach.
  • It may be along the shores of a large lake though.
  • I need to find and see a dermatologist.
  • I’ve had red splotches on my face for the better part of the past year now.
  • It’s not really itchy, but it’s a bit unsightly.
  • Maybe I’m allergic to the bar soap that I use.
  • I may stop washing my face in the shower to see if it improves.
  • Well there you go – my “Mini-Thoughts” for this weekend.
  • I enjoyed doing this.
  • Maybe I’ll do it again next month.
  • This blog post goes online at 3 AM EDT (U.S. East Coast) on Thursday.
  • Thanks for making it through all 36 of these “Mini-Thoughts” !

  8. “Build My Life” – Pat Barrett [10 / 2ND]
  9. “Resurrecting” – Elevation Worship [- / 1ST]
  10. “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave [- / 1ST]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“No One Like Our God” – Lincoln Brewster

Welcome back Elevation Worship to my chart, and welcome to Miami !  You guys are performing LIVE in concert tonight on Miami Beach, and I unfortunately won’t be there. It’s a work night for me, and frankly I can’t deal with the heavy traffic between my home and Miami Beach – especially during Spring Break. You guys will be around for a long time, so I know that there will be future opportunities to see you perform LIVE. Have a great show. Glorify God. Save lives tonight !

Sanctus Real have the new # 1 smash on my chart this week with their long-running single “Confidence”. This chart is truly influenced by radio airplay. This song has been playing on the radio for almost 13 months now. It even crossed-over to mainstream rock stations where it was a Top 20 hit nationwide. But K-LOVE just started playing it a month ago, and as soon as they did so – I loved it. I hum and sing it long after I hear it on the radio. I love these lyrics:

So give me faith like Daniel – in the lion’s den
Give me hope like Moses – in the wilderness
Give me a heart like David – Lord be my defense
So I can face my giants with confidence

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.
