It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back over 45 years. AMERICAN TOP 40 WITH CASEY KASEM – One of my favorite things to do on Saturdays is to sit down, compile this chart, and listen to #AT40 on SiriusXM (70s On 7). It reminds me of my childhood in Prince Georges County Maryland (Greenbelt, Bowie, and Lanham). That’s where I lived in the 1970s. That’s where I fell in love with Top 40 music on the radio. That’s where I discovered and followed the Billboard Hot 100. That’s when Casey Kasem was my idol. I wanted to be just like him, and I wanted to do what he did once I grew up. When I did grow up and join the Air Force and get stationed overseas in the United Kingdom – I fell in love with British Top 40 music on the radio. My weekly music chart was born – 39 years ago at the end of this month. That first era of my chart lasted 7 years from 1985 to 1992. The next era of my chart lasted 14 years from 1995 to 2010. This current era of my chart is now in its 405TH week.
