BEN, CARRIE, TAYLOR, MADISON, & LOGAN – We have two songs vying for the # 2 spot behind Matt Maher. Last week Ben Fuller and Carrie Underwood rose to # 2 with “If It Was Up To Me”. They recorded it together about 21 months ago in a Nashville studio. This week – and the week before last week – the Cain siblings rose to # 2 with “Living Water”. It’s their 7TH hit on my chart. Their 1ST hit was # 1 exactly 6 years ago.

We’re up to my # 22 hit from my Salvation Era, and as I teased last week it’s from a band that brought me to church for the first time as an adult almost 20 years ago. The date – Saturday January 20TH 2007. I was exactly 5 months into my salvation, and I was looking to be a part of a church family because I knew that I could no longer get closer to God as an orphan on my own.

I started hearing promos on Call FM (91.7) – an over-the-air radio station at the time in Miami-Dade County Florida playing Christian rock, pop, hip hop, and dance. It was the radio station’s birthday, and they would be celebrating at Life Pointe Church in Homestead Florida – 3 miles from my longtime home. Manic Drive was the headlining act of their birthday concert. I knew Manic Drive from their radio hit at the time – “Middle Of It All”. I went to that concert solo. As I recall – it was a show-up and pay-cash-at-the-door concert. As I also recall – I was probably the oldest person at that concert – at the age of 39.

The very next morning I attended my first church service as an adult. Their church services were actually held at the new movie theatre on the other side of town – not at their actual church building.

At # 22 it’s Manic Drive’s “Eleven Regrets” – their biggest and longest-running hit during that era – peaking at # 3 and spending 24 weeks on my chart in 2007 and into 2008.

Let’s Go Back next week for my # 23 hit.

SPOTIFY – You can hear “My Top 10 Hits” anytime by accessing my CountUp playlist on Spotify. All 10 hits are there from top to bottom. You can hear them in order from # 1 to # 10, or you can shuffle them. My playlist will be updated every weekend (usually before the actual chart is presented here on Mondays). You can link to it here.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. God used loud music on the radio in South Florida to reach me in August of 2006. I’ve been testifying about Him ever since.

Be blessed my friends !  May our God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

SWITCHFOOT – So this happened last week. One of my favorite rock bands of the mid-2000s (before I turned to Christ) entered my chart for the first time in over 18 years. “Beautiful Life” debuted on my chart at # 10, and this week it’s up 2 notches to # 8. Back during my Salvation Era – Switchfoot hit 3 times with “Oh ! Gravity” (# 4 in 2006), “Awakening” (# 2 in 2007), and “This Is Home” (# 5 in 2008). Before that – they hit # 1 on my chart with their first 2 songs (both in 2004) – “Meant To Live” and “Dare You To Move”. They also charted with “Stars” (# 14 in 2005). They are the very rare artist that has spanned 3 distinct eras of my weekly hit music chart.

My # 21 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010 is from Air Five – led by Ben Peeples – with Michael Segarra on bass and Taylor Carroll on drums. Their debut album “Write My Story” was released in May 2007, but it wasn’t until 2 years later when the energetic “Open Season” exploded at Christian Pop radio – at least in South Florida. It spent 11 consecutive weeks at # 1 on my chart, and it was my # 1 smash of all of 2009. Their follow-up radio hit – “Here’s Me Letting Go” – was another awesome song, and had my chart existed after January 2010 it too would’ve likely been a long-running # 1 smash.

Next week it’s my # 22 hit. It’s from a band that brought me to church for the first time as an adult almost 20 years ago.

CAIN – My favorite Cains – Taylor, Madison, and Logan – originally from Morgan County Alabama in Hartselle – very near Decatur where I was just 11 days ago – are at # 2 on my chart with their 7TH hit – “Living Water”. We’ll find out soon if it becomes their 4TH # 1 smash.

My # 20 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010 is “Addicted” from P.O.D. They formed almost 35 years ago in San Diego California. They are a very rare artist that spanned two distinct eras on my chart – both secular and Christian. Back in December 2001 / January 2002 they peaked at # 28 with “Alive”. That was a mainstream rock and pop hit at the time. They had 4 additional hits on my chart after I flipped it from Top 40 to Christian. “Addicted” was the biggest of all of their hits. It spent 3 weeks at # 1 in May / June 2008.

Next week it’s my # 21 hit – my # 1 smash of all of 2009 – spending 11 consecutive weeks at # 1. It was a great track for a season.

My Top 5 Artists – 500 Weeks

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back almost 50 years. Today it’s a special chart of my Top 5 artists of the first 500 weeks of this current era of my chart:

2025 – “Can’t Steal My Joy” – Josiah Queen X Brandon Lake
2024 – “Up + Up” – Colton Dixon
2023 – “Praise You Anywhere” – Brandon Lake
2022 – “Good Morning Mercy” – Jason Crabb
2021 – “What If” – Matthew West
2020 – “God So Loved” – We The Kingdom
2019 – “Nobody (But Jesus)” – Casting Crowns Ft. Matthew West
2018 – “Only Jesus” – Casting Crowns
2017 – “Broken Things” – Matthew West

4 MALE SOLO ARTISTS & MERCYME – Matthew West, MercyMe, Phil Wickham, Micah Tyler, and Chris Tomlin are my Top 5 artists over the first 500 weeks of my chart (since February 2017). They account for 57 total hits, 25 # 1 hits and 93 weeks at # 1. Matthew West leads the pack with 7 # 1 hits. He also has more total weeks on my chart (197) than any other artist. But MercyMe actually leads all artists for total weeks at # 1 (29). The “HTS” column is the total number of hits for each artist, and none of them are shaded in green. That’s because TobyMac – my # 6 artist – leads that category with a total of 17 hits since 2017. There’s a good chance that TobyMac will replace Chris Tomlin at # 5 in the coming months as long as “Lord It Feels Good” continues its forward momentum.

MY TOP 10 HITS – My regular weekly chart resumes next Monday October 12TH 2026 with Week 504.

My # 19 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010 is a hard-rocker from Disciple. They hit my chart with 7 different songs during my Salvation Era. Back at # 8 was their anthemic power ballad “After The World”, and at # 19 it’s their high-octane sports anthem “Game On” – a # 1 smash from December 2007. WWE actually used “Game On” in its big event marketing back then, and the NFL used team-customized versions of “Game On” at football games.

Next week it’s my # 20 hit that you can easily get addicted to once you see its music video.
