Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  I hosted some out-of-town visitors today at work. They are essentially my counterparts at a higher Headquarters level. It was a lot of fun hanging out with them and discussing how we do business here at Homestead (ARB). We also went out to Lunch at Homestead‘s very own LongHorn SteakHouse. YUM !

2.  Just as I predicted would happen once the Olive Garden next door opened for business there were not too many people eating Lunch at the LongHorn. Customer service was immediate, friendly, and professional. The food was scrumptiously delicious. I enjoyed the Parmesan Crusted Chicken with seasoned french fries and brandied cinnamon apples. It was a MASSIVE Lunch for my MASSIVE appetite !

3.  Meanwhile over at the Olive Garden the parking lot was jammed and crammed to capacity. That joint was totally jumpin’ – no doubt about it. I’ll wait until after the excitement dies down a bit to check it out for myself. The Greater Homestead area is starting to turn in to a little Italian mecca here in America’s Riviera with the Capri and Nazbar (down the road in Florida City), Mamma Mia, Olive Garden, and (soon) The Big Cheese on U.S. 1. It just so happens that Italian food is my favourite type of food, so I say to BRING IT ON !

4.  It’s the 7TH day of July, so you just know what that means !  No ?  Well it may not mean anything special for you, but for me it means that I am now a mere two months away from my next Carnival cruise vacation getaway. I set sail on the 7TH day of September (Labour Day Monday) on my 10TH anniversary Carnival cruise on the same exact cruise ship that I was on for my very first Carnival cruise during the Labour Day Weekend of 1999. GOOD TIMES !

5.  The 11TH season of “Big Brother” on CBS-TV begins this Thursday night at 8 PM EDT. It will air on Thursday nights, Sunday nights, and Tuesday nights through the middle of September. I don’t believe that I have missed a single episode of the series since it premiered 9 years ago in July 2000, and I don’t plan to miss any of the 30 or so episodes that will begin in just 48 hours. My Summer is just not complete until “Big Brother” is occupying the digital airwaves.

And that’s how I rock and roll on this Tuesday night. Thank You for caring !

Monday Night Countdown

I am now an extremely satisfied new customer of AT&T U-verse. It has totally modernized and utterly revolutionized my home entertainment experience. I now have roughly triple the amount of cable channels that I used to have with my previous cable provider.

Here are just 5 cable channels that I’m getting to know now that I have them:

5.  West Coast Television (TBS-W, TRU-W)
It’s double the fun with U.S. west coast feeds of these two networks !

4.  Fox Reality Channel
It’s where old reality shows continue to thrive long past their prime.

3.  GSN
I’ve always wanted the network for game shows, and now I’ve got it.

2.  BBC America
It’s been nearly 22 years since I left the U.K., and now she’s back.

1.  WGN America
It’s Chicago’s legendary Channel 9 for the rest of us.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

Here are my takeaways from this Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church at the Flagship Cinemas in Homestead Florida U.S.A.:

– It’s still the 4TH Of July holiday weekend.
– Surprisingly the attendance was a wee-bit higher than on recent weekends.
– I think that we may have come close to 150 combined for the two services.
– That included an astonishing number of first-time guests.
– I counted at least a dozen first-timers during the second service alone !
– Next week it’s the grande return of Lead Pastor Travis and his crew.
– I forgot what he looks like.
– He’ll probably look different than the last time that I saw him (with a beard).
– He’ll be kicking-off a fresh new message series entitled …

Devastation

– It looks downright frightening.
– This week we concluded our 13-week “Rebel” message series.
– Dan Bard led this week’s teaching on God’s weapons against the devil.
– Dan’s teaching was totally passioniate and definitely inspirational.
– Dan is in the same league as J.T. and Gene M. – guys that inspire me.
– I could hang out and learn from those three guys all day long.
– The Good News is one of our key weapons against evil and darkness.
– God’s Army and Angels are constantly looking out for us.
– The Holy Spirit is there to lead us towards the daylight.
– I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
– I choose to capitalize on all of the weapons that God has given me.
– I choose to tell the devil to get lost and don’t ever come back here no more.
– This week’s teaching was based on these Scriptures from The Good News:
  – 1 Peter 5:8-14
  – 2 Kings 6:17
  – Psalm 91
  – Romans 8:31-32
  – 1 Timothy 1:7

1 Peter 5:8-11 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
8  Stay alert !  Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
9  Stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith. Remember that your Christian brothers and sisters all over the world are going through the same kind of suffering you are.
10  In His kindness God called you to share in His eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, He will restore, support, and strengthen you, and He will place you on a firm foundation.
11  All power to Him forever !  Amen.

P.S.  Ela – Get well soon. I’m always praying to God for you. I love you.
