Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  Hurricane Ike has passed us by well to our south, and that’s exactly what I forecasted it to do last week. As Ike was heading in this general direction suddenly everyone around me had become instant hurricane experts. I had to listen to a lot of ridiculous explanations about how hurricanes interact with high pressure systems and such. Some of it even defied science !  I merely listened and kept quiet, but it was very hard to do so at times. After all is said and done one thing is certain. I got it right.

2.  Today and tomorrow (while supplies last) you can pick up 3-dozen assorted fresh-baked cookies from Publix (where shopping is a pleasure) for the low low price of just $3.49 (on sale from the regular price of $5.09). At $3.49 for 3-dozen that’s less than a dime per cookie. Dude that rocks my world !

3.  I ended a self-imposed 99-day boycott of The Atlanta Bread Company yesterday morning. I actually ate Lunch there. The meal was not very good, and the customer service was not very good. My hot sandwich was cold, and I didn’t even receive the potato chips that come with it. I had to walk back up to the counter to retrieve them. It’s a nice fancy restaurant decor wise. It’s a shame that the food and the service don’t match the decor.

4.  My brother should resurrect his WordPress blog. Even if he only blogs in it once a week that would be good enough. How about a funny TOP 10 list or something similiar to my weekly ‘Monday Night Countdown’ ?  My brother is the funniest guy I know. He’s also cooler than global warming.

5.  I’m going on this trip next May into June:

America's Magnificent National Parks
My Vacation Next May Into June

It includes 3 states that I’ve never set foot in – Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. It’ll be another vacation of a lifetime.

The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club

TODAY I enjoyed an unusually late (after 12:30 PM) Lunch at an unusually busy Panda Express aqui en el Este de Homestead. I had a delightful plate of Chow Mein, Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, and a Chicken Egg Roll.

—> DID YOU KNOW that ‘Orange Chicken’ is the # 1 Internet search term (that’s used to find this blog) in the entire history of this blog ?

Here’s my Fortune Cookie Message for this MASSIVE Lunch:

‘Enjoy the good luck a companion brings you.’

Until next time my friends may the good fortune cookie message be yours indeed !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  Category 1 Hurricane Gustav made landfall earlier this afternoon in southwestern Haiti very near that country’s capitol city. I am forecasting it to eventually intensify into an extremely dangerous Category 4 Hurricane threatening the U.S. Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida on Labor Day Monday and Tuesday. If you live anywhere between New Orleans and Panama City Beach then I would start preparing now. Don’t panic. Prepare.

2.  I ate a MASSIVE Lunch at this place late this morning. As usual it was a ton of great food – hot and plentiful – with excellent customer service. If you don’t know the Beef’s then you just don’t know what’s good for Lunch !

3.  I’ll be driving well over 800 miles from this Thursday morning through this Sunday afternoon. That’s the most driving that I’ll be doing in nearly 18 months – since March 2007 when I drove to and from north of Atlanta Georgia !  Back then I was paying between $2.40 and $2.70 per gallon of gas.

4.  I’m constantly watching cable television on my sparkling new desktop computer system. My favourite part of it all – pausing LIVE TV and then resuming it when I feel like it. I now know this – A 30-minute TV show recorded on my hard drive takes up 1.87 GB of space. That’s nearly one-fourth of one percent (0.25%) of my entire hard drive !

5.  I didn’t watch the Olympics at all. I got caught up on previously-recorded television shows on VHS and DVD. In addition to my 3 VHS VCRs (‘Andrew’, ‘Barney’, and ‘Charley’) I also have my DVD recorder (‘Danny’) as well as my new HP computer (‘Eddie’). I know. I’m weird. Who isn’t ?

Saturday Morning Shenanigans

What a crazy abnormal Shenanigan-filled week in August it was !

At the start of the week Tropical Storm Fay began her whirlwind grande tour de force of the state of Florida, and me and my fellow Homestead neighbours received just a tad above 5 inches of windswept rains over a 5-day time-period. Some portions of South Florida received up to a foot of rain, and parts of Central Florida (on the Space Coast) received well over 2 feet of rain which caused catastrophic damage and destruction.

I went back to work on Wednesday (after the storm), and it was cool to get back to a more normal routine again. I prefer normalcy although it is fun sometimes to reach out and step in to a place that is outside of my personal comfort level. You can’t progress forward on God’s fantastic journey for you if you are always comfortable. You’ve got to mix it up a bit and throw in some real Shenanigans in order to enthusiastically serve and follow Him with reckless abandon.

Yesterday I gave blood at the lab. They will analyze it and give the results to my Doctor to see if the Lipitor is still doing its thing. Last night I had the honour of hanging out with a bunch of my LPC friends at The Molinas’ house out in Redland. We threw a 30TH birthday surprise party for this cool blogger girl, and we shoveled in pounds and pounds of delicious food items. Living up to my reputation I may have eaten more food than anyone else – even moreso than Richie N. (who actually wanted to argue this fact with me), or even this crazy cat who also adores tasty deviled eggs possibly as much as I do !  LIPITOR CHECK !

The big news all over the cable news networks this morning is the official announcement of Senator Joe Biden being selected (and accepting) the Vice Presidential position as Barack Obama‘s running mate. Good choice. Now that we’ve got that out of the way the Democrats can throw their inevitable Bush-Bashing party in Denver during this upcoming week and I can watch pre-recorded television shows during those Shenanigans. I’ll watch the Republican National Convention the following week. That’s my party !

Those are my Shenanigans for this Saturday morning, and I’ll leave you with this:
