Boots On Guest Bed

This was my little feline buddy ‘Boots’. I met him in 1994, and we officially became housemates on New Year’s Day 1995. Over the years Boots developed my personality in a cat’s body. He was the smartest cat I’ve ever met. I talked to him, and he understood me, and he responded to me.

Boots’ favorite hobbies included greeting me at the front door all the time, following me everywhere I went, watching my every move, eating with me, sleeping with me, and (for fun) pushing geckos off the back porch screen in order to “save my life”. If Boots saw a gecko climbing on the outside of the screen it would only take him mere seconds to jump up and push that gecko off the screen and tumbling 15 feet to the ground below. Once he did that he’d look back at me for my instant approval (which I always granted).

Boots was with me for 12½ years – the toughest 12½ years of my adult life. Exactly 13 years ago last night on May 16TH 2007 was a horrible night for Boots and I. He was in agonizing pain (due to the effects of various diseases), and he could no longer hide it. He was screaming all night long. He could no longer walk. He lost the ability to purr. I knew that was his last night of life.

The next morning I made the ultimate decision to put him to sleep to end his terminal pain and suffering that he was enduring. I was with him at the very end at the animal hospital, and he meowed at me one last time as if to thank me for loving him for all of those years. His eyes slowly closed after that, and I cried.

His doctor said it was my final good deed for him, and that he probably lived much longer than he should have – due to the love that I provided to him over the years.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 169

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday May 10TH 2020:

  1. “Almost Home” – MercyMe [# 1 last week / 21ST week on chart]
  2. “I Will Fear No More” – The Afters [2 / 16TH]
  3. “Alive And Breathing” – Matt Maher [4 / 9TH]
  4. “(I’ll) Never Let You Down” – Hawk Nelson Ft. Hunter & Tara [3 / 7TH]
  5. “Love” – We Are Messengers [10 / 2ND]
  6. “Keep Me In The Moment” – Jeremy Camp [9 / 4TH]
  7. “Great Things” – Phil Wickham [6 / 3RD]
  8. “Your Name Is Power” – Rend Collective [5 / 18TH]
  9. “The God Who Stays” – Matthew West [7 / 25TH]
  10. “Waymaker” – Michael W. Smith Ft. Vanessa Campagna [8 / 16TH]

# 1 This Week In:
2019 – “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave
2018 – “The Way (New Horizon)” – Pat Barrett
2017 – “Forgiven” – Crowder

MercyMe’s “Almost Home” is my # 1 smash for the 12TH week in a row. It’s currently my # 5 hit of this current era (now in its 39TH month) – just behind another hit of theirs at # 4 – “Grace Got You”.

2 big movers this week – “Love” and “Keep Me In The Moment”. I love their unique sounds. “Love” sort of reminds me of a 1970s urban sitcom theme song. “Keep Me In The Moment” sounds very country to me. I expect both of these emerging hits to continue their climbs towards the top next week.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on Twitter and Flickr.

Be blessed my friends !  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday Scripture

Happy Mother's Day

… And Proverbs Chapter 31 Verses 27 and 28 continue with this:

She carefully watches everything in her household, and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of our Moms. Thank You for all that you do each day, and may:

The LORD bless you and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit,
And all God’s children said, “AMEN !”

  1. “Almost Home” – MercyMe [# 1 last week / 20TH week on chart]
  2. “I Will Fear No More” – The Afters [3 / 15TH]
  3. “(I’ll) Never Let You Down” – Hawk Nelson Ft. Hunter & Tara [4 / 6TH]
  4. “Alive And Breathing” – Matt Maher [2 / 8TH]
  5. “Your Name Is Power” – Rend Collective [5 / 17TH]

  9. “Keep Me In The Moment” – Jeremy Camp [9 / 3RD]
  10. “Love” – We Are Messengers [- / 1ST]

# 1 This Week In:
2019 – “Alive” – Big Daddy Weave
2018 – “What A Friend” – Matt Maher
2017 – “Forgiven” – Crowder

It’s May now, and MercyMe is still there at # 1. They’ve been there since February. This is the 11TH week in a row at # 1 for “Almost Home”. That makes it the longest-running # 1 smash on my chart of the current era which began 3 years and 3 months ago. Going back even further it’s the longest-running # 1 smash since 2009 when “Open Season” from Air Five spent 11 weeks at # 1.

At the other end of my chart We Are Messengers are back with some “Love” for us. It’s their 5TH hit on my chart over the past 3 years and 3 months. Their “Magnify” was one of the earliest hits I heard on the radio back in 2017 when I returned to Christian radio after more than 7 years away. I saw We Are Messengers LIVE in concert last year while their 3RD hit – “Maybe It’s OK” – was # 1 on my chart. They put on a great set !

Here’s the official video with lyrics for “Love”. You can’t sit down for this one. You need to get up out of your chair or couch, and sing and dance along to these fun people in the video. After that share the video with someone you love. Support positive and encouraging Christian music on the radio and at retail.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.
