Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

Now Showing At Life Pointe Church
Now Showing At Life Pointe Church

We began a fresh new 5-week message series on this glorious Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church. Entitled ‘The Art Of War’ it’s all about living a ‘no prisoners’ life. It’s all about moving forward in Life. But it’s not going to happen overnight. You’ve got to plan ahead for this. You need ‘strategery’.

This morning Lead Pastor Travis walked us through Stage 1 of this war. It’s all about creating alliances. We are to conquer, subdue, and tame our world. But we can’t do it alone. We must carefully create alliances or covenant relationships with like people in order to successfully take dominion over our earth.

2 Corinthians 6:14-18 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
The Temple Of The Living God
14
Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness ?  How can light live with darkness ?
15  What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil ?  How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever ?
16  And what union can there be between God’s temple and idols ?  For we are the temple of the living God. As God said:
      “I will live in them
          and walk among them.
       I will be their God,
and they will be my people.
17  Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the LORD. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.
18  And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the LORD Almighty.”

As of press time this afternoon Jesse and Alex had already posted their respective Sunday morning wrap-ups. Be sure to check back later on for more wrap-ups from T.J., P.J., K.J., and R.C. Yay fellow bloggers !

Bedtime Stories

‘The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club’ posted earlier tonight got me thinking about what the Bible says about success and complacency through it all. I went digging into the New Testament – specifically the 2ND Book of Corinthians.

I found this intriguing passage in Chapter 3 (New Living Translation):

1 Are we beginning again to tell you how good we are ? Some people need to bring letters of recommendation with them or ask you to write letters of recommendation for them.
2 But the only letter of recommendation we need is you yourselves ! Your lives are a letter written in our hearts, and everyone can read it and recognize our good work among you.
3 Clearly, you are a letter from Christ prepared by us. It is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living God. It is carved not on stone, but on human hearts.
4 We are confident of all this because of our great trust in God through Christ.
5 It is not that we think we can do anything of lasting value by ourselves. Our only power and success come from God.

The way that I read that Scripture above is that you don’t need to bother God with boasting of how good you are and what good you’ve done. Your true success can be seen easily in your heart and in your soul. If one can see the goodness that you have done for others there – then that is the ultimate measuring stick of success. It’s not the material goods and possessions that surround you on the outside that matter, but rather what’s going on in your heart, in your mind, and in your soul. That’s what God cares about. That’s what He always sees. If He sees good in there then you are His, for that goodness – it came from Him.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

This morning at Life Pointe Church in Homestead Florida Lead Pastor Travis wrapped-up our three-week message series on the Old Testament Prophet known as Habakkuk. While most of the Prophets relayed God’s message to the people Habakkuk switched it up and represented the peoples’ message to The Lord Almighty.

When we drift into a crisis of faith or belief – a ‘dip’ if you will – we need to react appropriately to get ourselves out of that dip and back onto the straight and narrow again on His fantastic journey for us. We must remember what He has done for us in the past. We must accept what He is doing for us right now. We must trust what He will do for us in the future. We must believe in Him, for He is the only solution.

Habakkuk (3:17-19, NLT 2ND Ed.)
17
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields,  and the cattle barns are empty,
18  yet I will rejoice in the Lord !  I will be joyful in the God of my salvation !
19  The Sovereign Lord is my strength !  He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  I arrived at the movie theatre just a few minutes after 7 AM on this glorious Sunday morning here in Homestead Florida, but that wasn’t early enough for my good friend from The Keys – Tom. He was already hard at work and planning a major upgrade of ‘Noah’s Ark’ (where we store a majority of our setup material for the main lobby). The Ark got a fresh new set of wheels this morning and an alignment to boot !  It’s good to go for another 3 miles.

2.  Pastor Travis led us on a journey through Chapter 2 of Habakkuk within the Old Testament. When we’re in ‘the dip’ we need to listen, write, and wait. We must always realize that God’s delays are not his denials. His goodness comes in His time. We must remain patient for it.

Habakkuk (2:1-4)
1  I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guardpost. There I will wait to see what the LORD says and how he will answer my complaint.

The LORD’s Second Reply
2  Then the LORD said to me, “Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
3  This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.
4  “Look at the proud !  They trust in themselves, and their lives are crooked. But the righteous will live by their faithfulness to God.

3.  Exactly 20 months ago today on the 21ST of January in 2007 I walked through the front doors of Life Pointe Church for the very first time. That was about 5 months into God’s amazing journey for me which started in August of 2006. This journey of 25 months has been mostly up, up, and away beyond my wildest expectations, but there have been a few slight dips along the way. The wonderful feeling that I get when I successfully pull out one of those dips can’t be explained in mere words. Experiencing a dip is normal. Dealing with it requires patience. Coming out of it is the greatest feeling in the world. It is all because of Him. It is all so if you just let Him.
