  4. “Burn The Ships” – for King & Country [3 / 5TH]
  5. “Up Again” – Dan Bremnes [4 / 4TH]
  6. “Faith” – Jordan Feliz [9 / 2ND]

  8. “Yes I Will” – Vertical Worship [7 / 10TH]

  10. “Better” – Pat Barrett [10 / 2ND]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Only Jesus” – Casting Crowns

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Word Of Life” – Jeremy Camp

This past week was Week 1 (of 2) of the Fall Pledge Drive on K-LOVE, so they played much less music per hour with a heavier concentration of recurrents (hits from more than 6 months ago). This week’s chart reflects the lack of new activity on the radio; although, Jordan Feliz does make a surprising 3-notch jump to # 6 with his “Faith”.

Jason Gray is still going strong with his reggae-sounding track, “I’m Gonna Let It Go”. It’s back in the Top 3 again.

Last night at 8 PM EDT TBN aired the 50TH Annual GMA Dove Awards. If you were one of the many who followed my LIVE tweeting @ChrisMDay then I thank you for watching the show with me, and if you were like me – singing and dancing along to the musical acts. If you missed it on TV then be sure to catch its rebroadcast (or set your DVR) for next Sunday October 27TH at 1 AM EDT.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you completely with joy and peace as you trust in Him.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1999

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 3RD Friday of the month, so I go back 20 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday October 17TH 1999:

  1. “Mambo No. 5” – Lou Bega
  2. “Steal My Sunshine” – Len
  3. “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me For Me)” – Blessid Union Of Souls
  4. “(You Drive Me) Crazy” – Britney Spears
  5. “Larger Than Life” – The Backstreet Boys

Well I was certainly partying to this music during the waning months of the 20TH Century. All 5 of these hits could be heard at any dance club at the time.

“Steal My Sunshine” – what an amazing song that is. It’s one of the greatest songs of my entire life. It spent 42 weeks in a row on my chart from July 1999 to May 2000, and it was a # 1 smash for me. It was also a worldwide pop smash.

Len were Marc (brother) and Sharon (sister) Costanzo, and they were in their late-20s at the time. They took a whole bunch of their friends over to Daytona Beach Florida in March 1999, and they self-produced this amazing music video of the sights and sounds of Spring Break. This video just screams “1999” with its RETRO style and multiple split-screen scenes of fun in the Florida sun. The song and its video were both critically-acclaimed, and they won a bunch of awards.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

My Top 10 Hits – Week 139

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday October 13TH 2019:

  1. “Fear No More” – Building 429 [# 2 last week / 11TH week on chart]
  2. “Nobody (But Jesus)” – Casting Crowns Ft. Matthew West [1 / 11TH]
  3. “Burn The Ships” – for King & Country [4 / 4TH]
  4. “Up Again” – Dan Bremnes [5 / 3RD]
  5. “I’m Gonna Let It Go” – Jason Gray [3 / 10TH]
  6. “Echo” – Elevation Worship Ft. Tauren Wells [6 / 4TH]
  7. “Yes I Will” – Vertical Worship [7 / 9TH]
  8. “Dead Man Walking” – Jeremy Camp [8 / 13TH]
  9. “Faith” – Jordan Feliz [- / 1ST]
  10. “Better” – Pat Barrett [- / 1ST]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Only Jesus” – Casting Crowns

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“The Gospel” – Ryan Stevenson

Building 429 climbs to # 1 with their debut smash on my chart “Fear No More” – the song that I kept singing along to loud and proud in my car while driving 2,990.5 miles between South Florida and North Texas. It’s a really good song – music and lyrics. It becomes my 40TH # 1 smash since this chart was resurrected from the ashes in February 2017.

Building 429 have been together for 20 years, but they never charted during the original “Salvation Era” of my chart from 2006 to 2010. They scored a couple of big hits during the early-2010s (during my chart’s 7-year hiatus) with “Where I Belong” and “We Won’t Be Shaken”. I discovered both of those tracks for the first time in 2017 as recurrent hits on K-LOVE.

Casting Crowns end an impressive 7-week reign atop my chart. They have now accumulated a total of 18 weeks at # 1 over the past 139 weeks. I believe that they are one of my top artists since February 2017, and I should be able to confirm that soon with a special chart I’ll be producing that will #CountUp my Top 10 artists of this current era of my chart.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2004

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday October 10TH 2004:

  1. “Let’s Get It Started” – Black Eyed Peas
  2. “Hey Mama” – Black Eyed Peas
  3. “Goodies” – Ciara Ft. Petey Pablo
  4. “She Will Be Loved” – Maroon 5
  5. “On The Way Down” – Ryan Cabrera

♫ Sick and tired of this world
There’s no more air
Tripping over myself
Going nowhere
Waiting
Suffocating
No direction
I took a dive

And on the way down
I saw you
And you save me from myself
And won’t forget the way you love me
And on the way down
I almost fell right through
But I held on to you ♫

What a great pop song that was exactly 15 years ago. Recorded in 2003 it was Ryan Cabrera’s radio-friendly debut smash at age 21. It spent 36 consecutive weeks on my chart at the time – peaking at # 3. Johnny Rzeznik – lead singer of Goo Goo Dolls – performed backup vocals. Ashlee Simpson – Ryan Cabrera’s girlfriend at the time – appears in the official music video.

One look at those lyrics makes me think that Ryan is singing about salvation in Christ, but I don’t know if that was the intent of the song. The music video makes it appear that Ashlee Simpson is saving Ryan Cabrera. (That didn’t really work out.)

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
