# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Wonder” – Hillsong UNITED

For the first time in perhaps ever we actually sang my current # 1 smash at the time during Praise & Worship. In fact we kicked-off our church service this past Sunday with Bethel Music’s “Raise A Hallelujah”. One of our Praise & Worship leaders introduced it by telling the story of how the song came to be. You can read that story here on Bethel’s web site, and you can also see the music video.

After we sang the song to Christ I went on stage to greet my church family, and I told everyone that a couple of months ago when I first started hearing that song on the radio (K-LOVE) I knew that we would eventually sing it during our Praise & Worship. I’ve been right before, and I was right again. It was a beautiful moment at Living Waters Full Gospel Church.

Praise & Worship is a special experience. It’s where we praise and worship and celebrate our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ – for everything that He has done for us, for everything that He is doing for us right this minute, and for everything that He will do for us. We sing to Christ – songs about Him. We raise our hands to Christ. We sway and dance for Christ. He is our audience of One.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him. AMEN.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2009

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 10 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday August 02ND 2009:

  1. “Code Name: Raven” – House Of Heroes
  2. “Run From Yesterday” – High Flight Society
  3. “Be Alive In Me” – Abandon
  4. “Open Season” – Air Five
  5. “Control” – Clemency

Good music there from exactly a decade ago this weekend. Two of those songs – “Code Name: Raven” and “Be Alive In Me” – are currently in heavy rotation at the workplace via my iPod Shuffles that I listen to at my desk. “Open Season” has been a constant favorite over the past 10 years. “Control” has generated over 1,050 plays since I added it to my iTunes library in March 2009. That’s music that was part of the soundtrack of my fantastic journey in 2009, and it’s aged gracefully.

10 years ago this month I was approaching the 3RD anniversary of the start of my salvation in Christ. God used rock music on the radio to rescue me and save me. He lifted me out of the pit of despair – out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground, and He steadied me as I walked along. He gave me a new song to sing – a hymn of praise to our God.

He can do that for you too. Up until the age of 39 I was far from God with no intention of getting to know Him. I was fine with following the ways of the world. But the world left me behind. The world left me for dead. Then God came and gave me a lifeline, and I took it. I’ve been holding on tight ever since.

If you do not yet know Christ then I invite you to walk with me. I’d like to tell you all about the God I know. He’s got a fantastic journey for you too !

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

  10. ”God’s Not Done With You” – Tauren Wells [7 / 5TH]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Dream Small” – Josh Wilson

# 1 Two Years Ago This Week:
“Wonder” – Hillsong UNITED

It’s a new # 1 smash this week, as Bethel Music reach the pinnacle with “Raise A Hallelujah”. It made it to # 1 in its 8TH week. That’s the fastest climb to # 1 since Big Daddy Weave‘s “Alive” 3 months ago.

A couple of months ago I didn’t know who “Bethel Music” was. Now I do, but strangely this is actually their follow-up single to “Stand In Your Love” which reached # 5 last October on my chart. That was from Josh Baldwin of … that’s right – you guessed it – Bethel Music. “Raise A Hallelujah” is the 2ND single from the Bethel Music album, “Victory”.

I’m back from vacation. I was on a 4-day / 309-mile road-trip to and from Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach in Southwest Florida. My blog continued as normal this past weekend, as I wrote Thursday’s, Friday’s, and Sunday’s blogs several days in advance (before I departed on my road-trip). Tonight’s blog was written and published immediately on this Monday night. This Thursday night I’ll share some “Mini-Thoughts” with you regarding my weekend vacation.

But for now here’s Jeremy Camp’s official music video for “Dead Man Walking”.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1989

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 15, 20, or 30 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 4TH Friday of the month, so I go back 30 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday July 30TH 1989:

  1. “Express Yourself” – Madonna
  2. “Good Thing” – Fine Young Cannibals
  3. “More Than You Know” – Martika
  4. “Everlasting Love” – Howard Jones
  5. “Dressed For Success” – Roxette

61, 58, 50, 64, 61, and 60. Those are the current (or soon-to-be) ages for Madonna, Roland Gift (lead singer of Fine Young Cannibals), Martika, Howard Jones, and Marie & Per (Roxette) respectively. Oh yeah, and I’m 52. This is my generation right here. #AgingRespectively

What about Martika at 50 ?  She was one of the original kids during the first three seasons of “Kids Incorporated” from 1984 to 1986. A couple of years after she left the show she burst onto the American pop music scene while she was still a teenager (at 19) with her debut smash “More Than You Know”. She followed it up with her biggest smash of them all – “Toy Soldiers”. She also scored big with her version of the classic “I Feel The Earth Move”, and “Love … Thy Will Be Done”.

Here’s the hit that was # 3 exactly 30 years ago this weekend. It got me dancing as a 22-year-old. I remember not hearing it enough on my local Top 40 radio station at the time, so I bought it on “cassingle” (cassette single) at the record store, and I played it until I wore it out. I still like this song today. It’s aged gracefully.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday morning and Monday night with two more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !
