Winter Returns To South Florida

… If only for about 36 hours.

As you wake up tomorrow (Tuesday) morning actual air temperatures in and around Homestead could bottom out in the mid-40s with wind-chills right around the 40°F mark for several hours. (Miami could be up to 10° milder / less colder than Homestead.) During the day on Tuesday we will struggle to reach 70°F. It won’t be nearly as cold on Wednesday morning, as more normal late-March weather returns.

BUNDLE UP ON TUESDAY MORNING !

Bedtime Stories

It’s currently past 8 PM EST, or 9 PM MDT (as in ‘My Daylight Time’). Earlier today I took the grand tour around my home and changed all of my clocks ahead by one hour. I’ve been on Daylight Savings Time for most of the day today. For me it got dark tonight after 7:30 PM. For the rest of you it happened after 6:30 PM. Be sure to join me tomorrow as we officially begin Daylight Savings Time.

It’s gonna be an unusually cold March night tonight here in Homestead. Tomorrow morning as you step outside just before sunrise (at 7:36 AM) it will be in the mid-40s outside with wind chills in the mid-30s !

Be sure to catch this blog tomorrow after 1 PM EDT for another amazing edition of the ‘Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad’.

May you have a safe and peaceful Saturday night, stay warm, don’t let the bedbugs bite, and until we meet again remember this:

The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Overcast, Windy, Drizzly
Temperature: 68°F
Relative Humidity: 92%
Winds: NW 8 MPH
Barometric Pressure: 30.03 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  At 7 AM this morning it was raining outside (just as I forecasted last night), so in lieu of walking I decided to go eating – at the Cracker Barrel. I enjoyed a MASSIVE breakfast consisting of 4 slices of french toast drowning in maple syrup, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 smoked sausages, hot coffee, and cold water. Now where did I put my Lipitor ?

2.  I got back home at 8 AM, and the rain had ended. I decided to walk the walk. It was the most unusual ‘Walk-A-Thon’ yet.

3.  My semi-basic 1.4-mile walk on a rare full stomach was done so during treacherous weather conditions – with thick dark clouds hanging low overhead, strong gusty northwesterly winds of up to 25 MPH, cold air pouring in, and even a little bit of leftover drizzle on this fresh side of the powerful cold front. I will dream of mornings like this from April through October when it’s hot and sticky outside with no wind.

4.  The ducks were out and about this morning, and they appeared to be lost, dazed, confused, and perhaps even drunk. They were stumbling about, wandering around with no sense of direction, and I saw one of them nearly tumble over in a state of mass chaos. They were wondering why the weather had suddenly changed on them. Some of them probably drank too much (rain).

5.  If my friends and acquaintances from my previous life (not capitalized) saw what I was doing today – walking, talking, laughing, and loving Life (capitalized) then they would think that I am not that same person that I was in my teens, 20s, and 30s. That plastic mannequin withered and rotted away. He died. I was reborn during the Summer Of 2006. I have a whole bunch of new friends now that are walking with me as we follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. These are my 40s, and everything I do I do it for God. AMEN !

Bedtime Stories

It could be a dark and stormy night late tonight as a powerful cold front slams into South Florida. Be prepared for loud thunder and vivid lightning after about 1 AM here in Homestead. Weather-permitting ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ will proceed as scheduled tomorrow morning; however, if showers linger on through the morning hours then I will stay dry inside the comfort of my home. We’ll see how it all works out in the morning.

Believe it or not there are races going on this weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. You can catch Ferraris racing around the track on both Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Read all about it here, or here.

Well that’s what I’ve got tonight for your ‘Bedtime Stories’. Be sure to catch the blog again tomorrow (Saturday). I’ll be here. I hope that you are too.

Until then remember this:
