ONLY JESUS – My # 1 smash exactly 5 years ago was “Only Jesus” from Casting Crowns – a group I’ve seen LIVE in concert 3 times in 2019, 2021, and 2023. They are one of my favorite groups. Statistically they are my # 7 artist of this current era behind Matthew West, MercyMe, Micah Tyler, Chris Tomlin, TobyMac, and Jeremy Camp.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again with the new weekend – and 4 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, a special #VeteransDay post on Saturday, #SundayScripture, and #MusicMonday.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on X and Flickr.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday November 05TH 2023, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

This is “Fall Back Weekend” here in the U.S., as we set our clocks back one hour last night with the end of Daylight Saving Time. We are now in Standard Time – the real time zone. This is my favorite time of the year with earlier sunrises and sunsets. I wish we stayed on Standard Time all year round.

I’m back in Homestead (Florida) for a few days, and I’m back at my longtime home church for Sunday morning service and fellowship. I’ll be leading Communion this morning with the 100TH Psalm as my Scripture.

I finally finished my sermon titled “Jude & Judgment” based on Jude 1:1-11. I’ll preach it to my Homestead church family 3 weeks from today. I’ve also started writing my next sermon after that (tentatively titled “Jude & Jive”) based on Jude 1:12-25. I’ll preach it the following Sunday.

This meme appeared on a recent Facebook feed, and it’s one of my favorite verses of Scripture. I actually incorporated 2 Timothy 4:2-3 – the NIV translation – within my “Jude & Judgment” sermon, as it fit perfectly. This meme represents the ESV translation:

My testimony is featured here each week on #SundayScripture whether it’s part of a sermon, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord, and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Let’s Go To The Dump !

Welcome back to #TravelThursday. Last Saturday morning I visited the county dump for the first time ever for a sightseeing expedition chock-full of wonderful breathtaking photos. No. Just kidding. It’s more formally known as the Highlands County Recycling Center at 6000 Skipper Road (south of Sebring). It’s about 13 miles south of my neighborhood.

They were hosting a 6-hour Fall “Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) & E-Waste Collection Event”. I found out about this event earlier in the year shortly after I moved to Sebring, and I saved the date on my calendar.

You know – I just happen to have a lot of electronic waste that I’ve collected over the past 40 years. For me that’s mostly old TVs, VCRs, computer monitors, and printers from the ’80s, ’90s, and 2000s. As a good steward of the environment and an obedient resident of my municipalities – I’ve refrained from throwing these objects in the nearest dumpster when they broke (like many others have done).

I stuffed my car trunk full of this junk (and part of my back seat area), and I hauled it all to the dump – not knowing what to expect once I got there. I expected it to be one of those drive-up / stay-in-your-car events where employees remove everything from your car, and then you drive away. But I didn’t know if – upon arrival – I would be in-and-out in about 5 minutes, or maybe 20 minutes. Well – let me tell you this. It was a very popular event – more popular than I ever imagined. Upon arrival of the general area of the dump – on a narrow dirt road that cut through unspoiled South Central Florida scrubland up in the hills – there was a long line of vehicles – cars, SUVs, pick-up trucks, etc. It turned out to be about a half-mile back-up. It was officially my very first traffic jam here in Sebring. I eventually got to the site about 30 minutes later, and it was exactly as I expected. You drive-up. You open your trunk (and unlock your back doors if you have junk back there), and a team of employees remove everything from it. You then drive away. I was driving away just 5 minutes later. It was very well-organized. I applaud Highlands County for such a well-run event.

Oh – and I’ll be back with more E-Waste for the next collection event in 6 months.

Next #TravelThursday – I recount my arrival in the United Kingdom exactly 38 years ago. Let’s keep traveling together.

It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back over 45 years. 350 WEEKS – This is the 350TH week of the current era of my music chart. 326 songs have been on my chart since its resurrection in February 2017. 91 have made it to # 1. “Praise You Anywhere” (Brandon Lake) is about to join my Top 40 of this current era. It’ll replace “Keep Me In The Moment” (Jeremy Camp) as 1 of the 40 biggest songs of this era as far as chart performance is concerned. I’ll present that Top 40 in about a year after my 400TH week. In just a few weeks this current era will surpass the longevity of the very first era of my music chart from 1985 to 1992.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again with the new weekend – and 3 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, #SundayScripture, and #MusicMonday.
