My Top 10 Hits – Week 317

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back nearly 45 years. Here’s this week’s chart – for the week ending Sunday March 12TH 2023 – the 317TH week of this current era that began on Presidents’ Day Weekend of 2017:

TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE

2019 – “Red Letters” – Crowder
2018 – “No One Like Our God” – Lincoln Brewster
2017 – “I Have This Hope” – Tenth Avenue North

BRANDON HEATH – He’s my # 23 artist over the past 6 years, and he’s got his 3RD hit on my chart. Last year – “See Me Through It” was my # 1 smash for the entire year. His follow-up may not be that big, but it’s still a good song with good lyrics that share God’s Good News. It’s got a simple message. No matter what your situation is. You are here. You are loved. God is good. And that’s enough.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again with the new weekend – and 4 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, #RetroFriday#SundayScripture, and #Top10Monday.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on Twitter and Flickr.

Be blessed my friends !  May our God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday March 12TH 2023, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

This morning I observe and celebrate my 8TH anniversary with my current church family. I arrived for the first time on this 2ND Sunday of March (Daylight Saving Time Sunday) of 2015 during a particular valley along my fantastic journey. I’ve heard it said that within the first 10 minutes of walking into a church building for the very first time – most people have decided if it’s their first of many visits, or if it’s their first and final visit. I decided that it was my first of many visits when I arrived at Living Waters Full Gospel Church (my current church family).

It’s the start of my 9TH and final year with my brothers and sisters at Living Waters. I’ll begin relocating 186 miles away in the next week, and my attendance at Living Waters will slowly diminish through the end of this year.

I’ve begun actively searching for a church in my new local area. (There are dozens to choose from.) I’ve started watching Sunday morning services online to see if I want to take that next step and physically attend a service. There’s one (so far) that I want to visit in-person.

Back in late-2006 I searched for my very first church online, and I physically went there not knowing a single person beforehand. That worked out pretty well for me. I was with my first church family for 8 years and a month.

I did little to no research before visiting my 2ND (current) church for the first time, but I knew one person that was part of that church family at the time – a former coworker and friend of 27 years. Now I’ve known her for 35 years !

When I visit my 3RD church up in Sebring – I will know nobody there. I will keep a low profile – revealing little to nothing about my ministry – online or offline. I will be there to absorb God’s Good News. I plan to be a regular-attender and then a member, but I plan to not be in leadership. Of course – my plans are not necessarily God’s plans. I didn’t plan to preach 50+ sermons over the past 6½ years, but that’s where God led me.

I think God is leading me in a different direction with my ministry, and I’m starting to see the dawn of God’s light for that. I can’t share them with you at this time, but there are a couple of exciting opportunities coming up for me where Pastor Chris (that’s me) takes my ministry to places and groups that may have been seeking someone to lead them to God. I’m excited for the future.

“For I know the plans I have for you” – says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster – to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11 NLT)

I will continue to write new sermons and freshen old sermons within my collection. #SundayScripture will continue moving forth as my ministry expands in a new direction and a new environment.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2003

Hello again retro music fans. Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 15, 20, 25, or 35 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 20 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday March 09TH 2003:

And here’s an actual snapshot of my Top 5 exactly the way it appeared on my web site at the time:

That’s from the 750TH overall edition and 391ST online edition of my weekly hit music chart – known at the time as my “Pure Dance Chart”. It was right in the middle of the 2ND era of my chart that lasted a little over 14 years from October 1995 to January 2010. For a little over 2 years from 2002 to 2004 I was immersed in the #EDM culture, and my chart reflected that short era of my life.

Dreamy trance topped my hit music chart 20 years ago this weekend – with Noémi’s “In My Dreams”. I had a sense of humor there with my comments underneath the title (The Major’s “Stompin’ In A Marching Band” romp). I wrote that because you can stomp in a marching band to the beat of that hard trance song.

Next #RetroFriday I’ll go back 25 years ago to March 1998. It’s when Trine, Sieber, and Jesper requested loving superpowers.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with 2 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going retro with me !

Sebring Historical Society

Welcome back to #TravelThursday. It is Day 21 of the closing process of my new retirement / forever home up near Sebring in scenic Highlands County Florida. 3 Thursdays ago I toured 5 condos in my dream 55+ neighborhood, and I selected the 5TH and final one as the best of them all (by far). So far so good with the entire process. I’ve reviewed and signed so many electronic forms over the past several weeks. That process appears to be drawing to a close. I’ll be physically present in Sebring for final closing day, and I’m sure that I’ll be signing even more documents on that day – retro-style – via “wet-ink” (pen-to-paper). Memo To Self: Don’t drink coffee that morning. (I want my signatures to be legible – not scribble.)

It’s no secret that I wish to be a museum docent when I grow up (retire), and I’ll be doing that with the Sebring Historical Society. I met with the Operations Director inside their main building a couple of days after I made that purchase offer on my condo. I actually walked over to their museum, and it was locked shut. I then walked over to the next historic building / house over that they also use (for socials and banquets), and it was also locked shut. So I had no choice but to head over to their main building to ask why.

I didn’t realize it at first, but the guy that greeted me was the same guy that greeted me exactly 2 years earlier during Presidents Day Weekend of 2021. (Read all about that remarkable day here.) It took him a little while longer to remember me. We talked for a good hour about my upcoming relocation and retirement, and my eagerness to become a member of the Sebring Historical Society. I wish to serve and participate in their regularly-scheduled meetings, events, and tours. He actually gave me a copy of the script for the closed museum. (It was closed because he didn’t have a docent available to work that day.) He told me to study it and personalize it to my own liking.

It was another great and impromptu meet-and-(re)greet, and when I walked away I was absolutely certain that I wanted to serve alongside the members of the Sebring Historical Society at my earliest opportunity (right after I start moving up there). I’ve already added some upcoming events to my schedule !

Several days after I returned to my current home I sat down at my computer, and I went “old-school”. I typed an old-fashioned letter to the Sebring Historical Society thanking the Operations Director for talking with me for an hour about everything. I reiterated my eagerness to serve to preserve, protect, and promote Sebring history. I also filled-out the application form to become a member, and I wrote out a check for the first year’s membership dues. It all went into an envelope – addressed and stamped – and placed in my neighborhood’s USPS mailbox. (Just like we used to do it “in the olden days”.) Writing letters is such a lost art form, but I continue to embrace it. Blogging is sort of like writing letters – the modern way.

In addition to regularly-scheduled monthly and quarterly events – the Sebring Historical Society also hosts all-inclusive day-trips around the local South-Central Florida region. Future #TravelThursday editions will highlight these trips, and perhaps my trip highlights may even appear on the Sebring Historical Society Facebook site.

Next #TravelThursday I’ll write about South Florida State College in Avon Park Florida. Let’s keep traveling together.
