The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Mostly Cloudy
Temperature: 73°F
Relative Humidity: 77%
Winds: E 5 MPH
Barometric Pressure: 30.02 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  It’s the first Saturday morning of May, and the walk continues. We’re enjoying an unusually cool Spring here in South Florida. Later this month the rainy season should be kicking-off, and that will pretty much bring an end to these weekly walks for the season.

2.  It was another 2.2-mile walk for me this morning, and I did it in 40 minutes flat. That’s an average of 3.3 MPH. I always feel refreshed and alive during and after the walk. I think that’s the whole point of exercising.

3.  U.S. 1 is known as the ’18-Mile Stretch’ from Florida City to Key Largo. I’ve got the ’18-Minute Stretch’. That’s the middle portion of my walk that takes me from the main gate of my neighbourhood, completely around its southern hemisphere, down the spine, and back to the main gate again.

4.  2 little dogs were out for some early-morning shenanigans without their owner. I think they escaped from their patio. They were having a good ole time running all around in the street and on the grass – until they saw me !  That’s when they ran behind me and straight outta sight – probably back to where they belong. I wonder which one of those little dogs was the trouble-maker ?  Which one said to the other one, ‘Hey, follow me. We’re gonna go out and paint this town. We’re gonna go and get us into some monkey business this morning. Let’s go dog !’

5.  Most neighbourhoods have a lack of parking. My neighbourhood has an over-abundance of parking. I think we may even have one parking space for every man, woman, and child that lives here. At least it seems that way.

Age Is Just A Number

33 years ago tonight my Mom was in the hospital getting ready to give birth to my little brother Danny. He was eventually born the next day on May 03RD 1975. It just feels funny stating that ‘my little brother’ is 33-years-old. Why I remember when I was 33-years-old. I like to refer to that year in my life as ‘2000’. It seems so long ago. Of course 2006 seems so long ago based on what has happened to me since then. (My ‘life’ became a ‘Life’.)

In just about a month I will officially celebrate my 41ST birthday. Of course for the past half a year or so I’ve been telling everyone that I’m 41. I just feel that it’s more accurate to state the age that I’m closer to rather than the age that I was on my last birthday. I’ve been closer to 41 since the start of last December. In about 6 months I’ll be telling people that I’m 42 – and proud of it.

If you were born in May of 1992 then you will be able to get your driver’s license this month. I can’t believe that there will actually be drivers on the road that will be a full 25 years younger than me. It’s already difficult to comprehend the fact that we actually have civilian and military personnel that are currently working on the base (where I work) – that were born after I started working there in 1987 – as a 20-year-old !

You are 18 and legal this Summer if you were born during the Summer of 1990. I know what I was doing during the Summer Of 1990 on Panama City Beach. I actually remember (most) of it. That was a wild and crazy summer that occurred in a life that is just so far away from where I am today. I was 23 and dumb back then. Now I am 41 and alive. What a difference 18 years makes. What an adventure it has been over the past 21 months on God’s fantastic journey !

Friday Night Blogroll Review

These are my favourite blog entries of this past week from my favourite bloggers in the blogosphere:

Travis has the keys to our fresh new Life Pointe Church offices, and he wants the knuckleheads of LPC to come out for some painting shenanigans.

I’m not the only one that blogs what’s goin’ on at Life Pointe Church on any given Sunday morning. P.J. does it too.

Jesse wants your opinion as to what he should do with his mop-top.

Diego recently celebrated his first birthday with a bunch of cowboys and indians, and Kelly has the exclusive pictures up on her photogenic blog.

See Travis, Kelly, and Blake chillin’ at Luci’s and James’ house

Nathan reports on the continuing progression of InDependence Church in Weston Florida. I hope to spend another Sunday morning at InDependence sometime soon.

Nathan & Harmony’s Owen loves to talk to strangers, and sometimes the strangers talk back !  (It’s not always pretty.)

Bedtime Stories

Greetings Friends & Bloggers. This is the Thursday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’.

I’ve just spent the past hour watching “Are You Smarter Than A 5TH Grader ?” on FOX-TV. Up next is another Prime Time favourite of mine – “Don’t Forget The Lyrics“. Tonight on ‘Lyrics’ it’s a special celebrity edition with Bret Michaels of Poison – one of the greatest hard rock and roll bands of my entire life. “Unskinny Bop” may just be the greatest song that was ever made. Don’t hate me.

I’ve also spent the past hour browsing away on iTunes. I picked out 7 current hit songs that I’ll be purchasing. The’re in my Shopping Cart right now. It’s great Christian Rock music from (in alphabetical order) – Demon Hunter, Emery, Manic Drive, P.O.D., Project 86, Seventh Day Slumber, and Wavorly.

And so that’s what I’m watching on TV and listening to on the radio and on my iPod Shuffle. And you also found out that I was once (in my previous life) a Poison groupie (circa the Summer Of 1990). You just never know what you could possibly find out about me here on this blog.

That’s my ‘Bedtime Stories’ for tonight. Don’t forget that the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ will be in full effect tomorrow afternoon. Look for it sometime after 5 PM.

Good Night Everyone !  Good Night Christye !
