Winter Returns To South Florida

… If only for about 36 hours.

As you wake up tomorrow (Tuesday) morning actual air temperatures in and around Homestead could bottom out in the mid-40s with wind-chills right around the 40°F mark for several hours. (Miami could be up to 10° milder / less colder than Homestead.) During the day on Tuesday we will struggle to reach 70°F. It won’t be nearly as cold on Wednesday morning, as more normal late-March weather returns.

BUNDLE UP ON TUESDAY MORNING !

I Was On CALL-FM This Morning

So I’m laying in bed this morning (off from work and dealing with a cold) when Kelly-Kel – the morning show host on 91.9-CALL-FM – proceeds to announce to her audience that (based on what a listener had told her) we would not have another Easter Sunday in March for another 192 years – until 2200 !

Of course that is absolutely nonsense, but I was still in bed – with a cold. I eventually managed to get out of bed at around 7:45 AM – a good 2½ hours later than normal for a typical Monday morning. After taking a shower, feeling a little bit better (and certainly refreshed) to begin a brand new day Kelly-Kel proceeded to make the stunning announcement again – no more Easter Sundays in March for another 192 years !

That was the final straw that broke the Easter Bunny’s back !

I called Kelly-Kel over the telephone, and I told her the real facts about Easter Sunday. It will always be the first Sunday after the first full moon that occurs on or after the 21ST of March. This year the full moon occurred on the 21ST of March (Good Friday), so this Easter Sunday was the 2ND earliest Easter Sunday on record. The earliest calendar date that it can possibly occur on is the 22ND of March, and the latest that it can possibly occur on is the 25TH of April. There will be plenty of Easter Sundays to come in March !  Easter Sunday occurs in March generally every 3 to 5 years. Our next Easter Sunday in March will occur in just 5 years – on March 31ST 2013. One more fact. Easter Sunday will occur on April 24TH 2011 – the 2ND-latest calendar date that it can possibly occur on.

Due to audio difficulties at the time Kelly-Kel couldn’t put our actual recorded telephone conversation on-the-air, but she did reiterate the information for all of her morning show listeners.

THANK YOU Kelly-Kel for clearing all of that up for everyone else !

Bedtime Stories

It’s time for the Sunday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ – brought to you by Puffs.

Another 7-day week has concluded here on this blog, and it was the 2ND busiest week in our WordPress history based on total views. It was the busiest Monday in 5 weeks, the 2ND busiest Friday of 2008, the busiest Saturday ever, and the 3RD busiest Sunday of 2008. It was the busiest Thursday / Friday / Saturday / Sunday 4-day period ever!  Thank You Everyone for reading this blog on a regular basis !

I’ve got what appears to be my unprecedented 3RD cold in less than 5 months. Once upon a time I used to get a cold about once every 18 months to 3 years. Of course that was back when I was a plastic mannequin. This past Friday night I was amongst an estimated 5,000 to 9,000 adults, teens, and kids at the ‘Moonlight Easter Egg Hunt‘ at Harris Field, and on this glorious Easter Sunday morning there were over 700 of us at the movie theatre for Life Pointe Church services. I was shaking hands and hugging people all over the place this morning, and now I have a head cold. Go figure !

I’ve already E-Mailed in sick to work for tomorrow. I think that it’s best for me to sleep-in tomorrow morning and feel better before I go back to work (hopefully on Tuesday morning).

So until you hear from me again here on the blog please pray that I feel better soon. Oh yeah, and remember this:

Puffs:  A nose in need deserves Puffs indeed.

Have a safe and peaceful night everyone. Good Night Venus.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

1.  When I arrived at the movie theatre a few minutes after 7:30 AM on this glorious Easter Sunday morning I was not the 1ST or 2ND or 3RD person to arrive. I was more like the 25TH person to arrive. A few people such as Pastor Paul and Alex and Tom were there all night long (just like Lionel Richie).

2.  For the first time ever we did 3 services on a Sunday morning – at 8:30, 9:40, and 10:50. It’s a good thing that we did. All 3 of them were pretty much full – especially the first service. The parking lot was full, the main lobby was buzzin’ with activity, the hallways were congested, and the services were alive and kickin’. God was all over the place from Campbell Drive southward all throughout the entire Flagship Cinemas complex. He was livin’ large and totally in charge !

3.  I didn’t recognize the faces of about 50% of those that showed up for Easter Sunday services this morning. A bunch of our guests got to know us at Harris Field this past Friday night. A bunch of our guests got their first glimpse of the goings-on of our church on this Sunday morning. Some of them will return again next week, and we will recognize them. Some of them will return again next Christmas or even next Easter Sunday. Some of them will never return again. If we introduced just one man, woman, or child to Jesus Christ this morning, and that person is saved and joins us on His fantastic journey then it was all worth it my friend. Saving just one person will always be more important than any other number.

4.  I drove Pastor Paul’s ‘soccer-mom-minivan’ for the first time ever this morning. I got tired of looking at it parked illegally right in front of the front doors, so I took matters into my own hands. I grabbed the keys from Ms. Annie H. and I parked that thing over at Christ Fellowship across the street. (Just kidding – I parked it in a legal parking space nearby.)

5.  Pastor Travis was particularly loopy this morning during the 10:50 service. I think he overdosed on caffeine again. But he got the message out in-between the laughter. Jesus Christ was human – just like us. Jesus was a guy – just like us. Jesus was funny – just like us. Jesus was passionate – just like us. Jesus had emotions – just like us. Jesus had financial problems. Jesus was verbally and physically attacked. Jesus was lonely. Jesus was sorrowful. Jesus was exhausted. Jesus cried. Jesus bled. Jesus died. Jesus did all of that for us and for this moment in time. Jesus died on that cross so that we could Live !
