My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics

“Blaze Of Glory” – Audio Adrenaline – 2006
(Originally performed by The Alarm – 1983)

It’s funny how they shoot you down when your hands are held up high. And you open up your heart and soul, but that’s not enough for most, NO !

I remember this much. There is nothing you shouldn’t speak of when you’ve got something to say.

Going out in a blaze of glory. My heart is open wide. You can take anything you want from me. There is nothing left to hide.

The law of the jungle says you look after yourself, but I remember this much. I love as I’ve been loved myself. Don’t forget what I told you now when the questions keeps on a-coming, and it’s ‘how much more can you take’ but you keep on.

Going out in a blaze of glory. Setting your sights on the sky. They can offer you anything at all, but your dreams must not be sold.

Going out in a blaze of glory. No price is high enough. I’m fighting back with feeling. I’m fighting back with love.

And the nails are hammered into your hands, and the cross is heavy. Keep on !  Don’t you know that it’s time to make a stand ?  It’s time to make a stand !

Going out in a blaze of glory. My heart is open wide. You can take anything you want from me. There is nothing left to hide.

Going out in a blaze of glory. My hands are held up high. I’m learning how to hit back. Yes I’m learning how to fight.

Going out in a blaze of glory.
Going out in a blaze of glory.
Going out in a blaze of glory.

{Fade Out.}

The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Overcast, Windy, Drizzly
Temperature: 68°F
Relative Humidity: 92%
Winds: NW 8 MPH
Barometric Pressure: 30.03 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  At 7 AM this morning it was raining outside (just as I forecasted last night), so in lieu of walking I decided to go eating – at the Cracker Barrel. I enjoyed a MASSIVE breakfast consisting of 4 slices of french toast drowning in maple syrup, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 smoked sausages, hot coffee, and cold water. Now where did I put my Lipitor ?

2.  I got back home at 8 AM, and the rain had ended. I decided to walk the walk. It was the most unusual ‘Walk-A-Thon’ yet.

3.  My semi-basic 1.4-mile walk on a rare full stomach was done so during treacherous weather conditions – with thick dark clouds hanging low overhead, strong gusty northwesterly winds of up to 25 MPH, cold air pouring in, and even a little bit of leftover drizzle on this fresh side of the powerful cold front. I will dream of mornings like this from April through October when it’s hot and sticky outside with no wind.

4.  The ducks were out and about this morning, and they appeared to be lost, dazed, confused, and perhaps even drunk. They were stumbling about, wandering around with no sense of direction, and I saw one of them nearly tumble over in a state of mass chaos. They were wondering why the weather had suddenly changed on them. Some of them probably drank too much (rain).

5.  If my friends and acquaintances from my previous life (not capitalized) saw what I was doing today – walking, talking, laughing, and loving Life (capitalized) then they would think that I am not that same person that I was in my teens, 20s, and 30s. That plastic mannequin withered and rotted away. He died. I was reborn during the Summer Of 2006. I have a whole bunch of new friends now that are walking with me as we follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. These are my 40s, and everything I do I do it for God. AMEN !

Bedtime Stories

It could be a dark and stormy night late tonight as a powerful cold front slams into South Florida. Be prepared for loud thunder and vivid lightning after about 1 AM here in Homestead. Weather-permitting ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ will proceed as scheduled tomorrow morning; however, if showers linger on through the morning hours then I will stay dry inside the comfort of my home. We’ll see how it all works out in the morning.

Believe it or not there are races going on this weekend at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. You can catch Ferraris racing around the track on both Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM. Read all about it here, or here.

Well that’s what I’ve got tonight for your ‘Bedtime Stories’. Be sure to catch the blog again tomorrow (Saturday). I’ll be here. I hope that you are too.

Until then remember this:

It’s a honey of an O. It’s Honey Nut Cheerios !

Friday Night Blogroll Review

If it’s Friday night then it must be time to recap some of my favourite blog entries of this past week:

Travis is the Lead Pastor of Life Pointe Church.

Phil has a new work schedule, and that allowed him to – at long last – become an official Life Pointe Church blogger.
Phil is Travis’s younger brother, and a talented musician of Life Pointe’s ‘Praise & Worship’ band.

Alex experienced a ‘Rude Awakening’.
Alex is Jesse’s younger brother, a talented musician of Life Pointe’s ‘Praise & Worship’ band, and a youth leader for Grades 6 to 12.

Nathan is the Lead Pastor of InDependence Church in Weston Florida.

Harmony presented her Honey Chicken Salad recipe to the entire world, and I instantly got hungry.
Harmony is Nathan’s wife, and the Kids’ Leader at InDependence Church.

Chris Goins stated that Life Pointe Church ROCKS !
Chris lives in Birmingham Alabama and was the special guest speaker at Life Pointe Church last Sunday morning.

My brother experienced ‘thundersleet’ in the Dallas Texas area earlier this week.
