Saturday Morning Shenanigans

It’s the Summer replacement series for ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ which is now on seasonal hiatus. It’s … ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’. This should be a fun weekly series for all of us.

Saturday morning is pretty much the only morning of the week when I don’t have to set my alarm clock to wake-up earlier than I would if I didn’t set my alarm clock. During the week it’s typically set for 5:10 AM, and it typically wakes me up. On Sunday mornings it’s usually set for 6:30 AM, but I usually wake up before that time. And then there’s Saturday mornings – no set alarm clock, but I still wake-up before the dawn. I think that it has everything to do with me totally being ‘a morning person’. I’ve been waking up between 4 AM and 6 AM for the past 30 years. Before my current Air Force / Department Of Defense career I delivered newspapers early in the morning before school.

This morning I ventured on over to Florida City (where all of the food is at), and I ate a MASSIVE breakfast at the Cracker Barrel courtesy of my longtime waitress Debbie. Incidentally Debbie is one of the few good people that was an integral part of the last few years of my previous life who is now a part of my new Life. Oh yeah – the meal was livin’ large and outrageously scrumptious. This just in – I’m up a pound or two to 166.

Saturday mornings are also ‘laundry mornings’ in my household. Every 38 minutes I’m washing a new load of dirty clothes, and every 48 minutes I’m drying a new load of clean clothes. I’m efficient like that.

And so there ya go – the debut edition – the pilot episode if you will of ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’. We’ll do it all over again next week, and in next week’s edition I’m gonna reveal a secret passion (and talent) of mine that developed over the course of a decade of Saturday mornings back in the 1970s into the 1980s. It’s a ‘can’t-miss’ episode that all of Life Pointe Church will be talking about the next day at Homestead Bayfront Park. You won’t want to miss it pal !

Bedtime Stories

This Friday night edition of the ‘Bedtime Stories’ is brought to you by the letter ‘C’, and tonight I’ll be addressing these notable items of interest that all begin with the letter ‘C’ – ‘Cars’, ‘Cats’, and ‘Cholesterol’.

Cars – My 5-year-old car is suddenly a dream to drive in again. Earlier this week I went to Firestone and I bought 4 brand new tires for my car – nice ones too with 70,000-mile warranties. It feels like I’m just gliding along now on a thin strip of air just above the road surface. An oil and filter change, a new air filter, and new wiper blades completed the mini-tune-up. It’s my little birthday present to myself now that I’ve decided to keep this nearly fully-paid-off car for at least several more years.

Cats – 5 cats were part of my life scattered over a 23½-year period ending one year ago tomorrow morning. For many years leading up to Boots’ passing on I pretty much declared that I would go from the animal hospital to the animal shelter in a single morning to get a new cat. That didn’t happen, and it won’t happen at this time or anytime soon. Timing is everything, and in his own way Boots led me to God during his final year with me. Everything happens for a reason, and with God always by my side I will never be lonely again. Alone – Yes. Lonely – Never.

CholesterolLipitor is clinically proven to lower bad cholesterol by 39% to 60% – and that’s exactly what it did to me. After 12 weeks of taking my 10 milligrams dose per day it has effectively plummetted my total cholesterol about 40% from the 220s down to the 130s !  The LDLs, HDLs, and Triglycerides were all in the desirable / optimal ranges. I’m good like that. I’m healthy like that !

And that’s how we roll with tonight’s ‘Bedtime Stories’. Be sure to check out the blog again tomorrow for more fun and surprises, and then on Sunday I’ll be taking the ‘Tossed Salad’ on the road again with a special edition coming to you from InDependence Church in Weston Florida. It’s time to check up on my 3RD-favourite Pastor again (after Travis and Paul), and see how Nathan is progressing up there with his new and developing church.

Have a safe, peaceful, and blessed Friday night everyone, and until we hang out again on the blog or in person remember this:

Friday Night Blogroll Review

It’s time for the 24TH edition of the weekly celebration of blogs that is the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’. It’s my way of giving back to my favourite bloggers and my favourite blogs of this past week. THANKS for entertaining me !

Travis states that communities of and relationships with Christ-loving friends are almost always the front door to the drawing and convicting power of the Holy Spirit. It’s one of the vehicles that can get you to God real easily.

Phil’s version of my original ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’ is done every Thursday, and it has a different clever name to it every week. This week it was the ‘Thoughts Benedict’, and it was P.J.’s way of alerting the entire world that he was indeed sick and tired this past week. Once he got that off his chest the depression continued with his take on a couple of natural disasters over in Asia. Maybe we’ll get some happier thoughts next Thursday.

Check out this Pastor – this revolutionary – this world-changer – this passionate follower of Jesus.

I love to pose for pictures and then ultimately hit the big-time – the cover of Kelly’s blog !

Luciana enjoyed a beautiful Mother’s Day !

Nathan wraps-up ‘The Moment Of Truth’ message series this Sunday morning at 10:29 AM at InDependence Church in Weston Florida with an actual working polygraph machine in the house of God. No lie !  I’ve got to check this out !

Harmony totally burst out into uncontrollable laughter right in the middle of the produce section of her favourite grocery store. This was the direct result of seeing something so bizarre that it could only happen in Weston Florida. Check out what could be the funniest blog entry of the season !
