Monday Night Countdown

The CALL (serving much of South Florida including both coasts and the Keys) is a Christian rock, pop, and hip hop FM and online music radio station that’s independently-owned and operated.

Here’s their ministry description and philosophy as presented on their web site:

Ministry Description
The CALL is a non-commercial, listener-supported, FM radio station broadcasting Christian music and programming in a format that appeals to the target audience of listeners, ages 13 through 25.

Recognizing music’s power in worship, inspiration, exhortation and entertainment, The CALL seeks to use music as a tool to reach out to its target audience. The CALL’s primary mission is to make a positive impact on the community by introducing people to Christ and encouraging the growth of that relationship. This will, in turn, provide the basis and the means for young adults to stand against today’s pitfalls, including drug abuse, premarital sex, alcoholism, racism, and suicide.

Ministry Philosophy
The CALL is founded on the following principles:

1.  We believe in the Holy Trinity: God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit.
2.  We believe in the supremacy of God.
3.  We believe that the Holy Bible is God’s Word to His Church and that it is complete, inerrant and fully trustworthy.
4.  We believe in the forgiveness of sin through God’s grace and that personal salvation is available only through Jesus Christ.

About 1,000 days ago on a random morning in August of 2006 during my usual 15-minute drive to work I discovered The CALL for the first time ever. I believe that Jesus Christ intentionally utilized The CALL to rescue and save me from the evils and darkness of my previous life. He took an obvious passion of mine – rock music – and used it like a dangling carrot in His effort to get me to follow Him. I did just that. I always believed in Him, but I didn’t really know Him. Over the past 1,000 days of this fantastic journey I’ve developed and strengthened my personal relationship with Him. There’s no turning back now, as I continue to aggressively follow my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and be more like Him.

This week The CALL is running hard with its ‘Summer Fund Drive’. Please pledge any amount of money that you can by calling them toll-free at 1-877-3-RADIO-5, or do so online via their official web site.

The CALL is an enabler. They enabled me to experience the continuous euphoria that is this new Life of mine courtesy of Christ !

I pray that The CALL receive the funds necessary to continue to enable lost lives to be rescued and saved by God.

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

– I wasn’t at Life Pointe Church last Sunday morning.
– I was over 1,400 miles WNW of here in Allen Texas.
– There’s a slight chance that I may not be at LPC next Sunday morning as well.
– I really wish to visit and attend the Sunday night service next week at PK.
– Next Monday is a federal holiday, so it makes sense to do so.
Pastor Travis led this morning’s powerful teaching on Revolutionaries.
– It was based on 1 Peter 2:21-25.
– Jesus Christ was the ultimate Revolutionary.
– He didn’t follow the rules.
– He didn’t do what others around Him told Him to do.
– He created His own rules, and He did it for us.
– He didn’t have to die on that cross on that hill.
– He chose to die so that we could live.
– His love for us changed the world.
– Getting rich and owning worldly possessions does NOT change the world.
– We are all so full of sin, yet Jesus loves each and every one of us.
– He specifically created us in His image.
– Some of us already know that because we know Him.
– But many in the world today don’t yet know that – or Him.
– TODAY I’m celebrating Life – the 1,000TH day of this new Life of mine.
– I was rescued and saved by God 1,000 days ago in August of 2006.
– That’s when I stopped ignoring God, and I put Him in the driver’s seat.
– I choose to continue to follow God.
– I choose to continue to obey His Good News.

1 Peter 2:21-25 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
21  For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in His steps.
22  He never sinned, nor ever deceived anyone.
23  He did not retaliate when He was insulted, nor threaten revenge when He suffered. He left His case in the hands of God, who always judges fairly.
24  He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed.
25  Once you were like sheep who wandered away. But now you have turned to your Shepherd, the Guardian of your souls.

Saturday Night Retro

THIS WEEK I’m taking the ‘Retro’ straight back 25 years ago to the Summer of 1984 – right around my 17TH birthday. I had just finished my Junior year at Langley High School in McLean Virginia.

Here’s a happy me posing in my bedroom next to my brand new AM-FM stereo and cassette player / recorder and record player.

Here’s me playing on my very first computer – a Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 2. My monitor – Channel 3 of our living room TV.

Here’s me somewhere on a family vacation, and I’m looking out from some type of a tower up above the surrounding land. This could be an amusement park (such as Kings Dominion or Hershey Park).

… And back in the Summer of 1984 this was one of the hottest game shows on daytime television. It’s still a cult classic to this day.
