Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday March 23RD 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

God blessed me with a very good week of Bible studying and sermon writing. Last #SundayScripture I revealed the title of my next sermon – “Ungodly & Sinful” – based on 1 Timothy 1:9. I wrote the back-half of that sermon this past week, and now I’m putting the finishing touches on it. Going forth – I’ll continue to review it and enhance it as needed. It’s sort of a “throwback” sermon for me. It’s my first verse-by-verse (expository) sermon since I preached 2 sermons on Jude near the end of 2023. It’ll be my first extended message series since I preached on 1 Peter over the course of 5 sermons in 2021 and 2022.

“Ungodly & Sinful” is Scripture heavy. It’s based on 1 Timothy 1:1-11 and a few later verses in 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus 1:15-16 and 2:11-14, as well as Romans 6:1-14 and 23, 7:4-6 and 12, 2 Corinthians 4:4, and Galatians 5:19-26.

This past Friday night I filled in for my Pastor and led Bible Study at my church for the first time – a little over 14 months after attending my very first Friday Night Bible Study in January 2024. (I wrote about it in this #SundayScripture.) We’re currently reading and studying Paul’s letter to the Romans – verse-by-verse – from start to finish. We’re up to Romans 8 now, and I continued the momentum with Verses 1 to 15. Paul essentially recaps and reinforces what he wrote previously about sin and sinful desires – particularly in Romans 6. So – I read, and we discussed all of Chapter 6. (Earlier that same day I read and studied Romans 6 and incorporated much of it into my sermon.)

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

If you wish to learn more about the God I know – then stay tuned to #SundayScripture. The best is yet to come !

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

Arcadia Florida

Welcome back to #TravelThursday. It’s Equinox Day – the Spring Equinox here in the Northern Hemisphere and the Autumnal Equinox in the Southern Hemisphere. It occurs at 0501 U.S. East Coast Time / 0901 UTC. The Sun crosses the Equator at that precise moment on its trek northward to the Tropic Of Cancer.

Last week I wrote about my fun trip over to Arcadia Florida – 43 miles away from home. I visited the historic John Morgan Ingraham House Museum of the DeSoto County Historical Society. I also enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the cozy and quaint The Yellow Deli.

And this is where the story continues. After lunch I took a stroll down historic Oak Street, and I visited numerous antique stores. The historic district known formally as “Arcadia Main Street” is mostly antique stores, and they all appear to be thriving. Some stores even have multiple locations. Arcadia is informally known as “The Antique Capital Of Florida”. I don’t buy antiques, but I actually enjoy visiting antique stores just to see the 20TH Century memorabilia on display and for sale. Antique stores are like mini museums. On many visits to the Wichita Falls Texas area to hang out with my family there we often went on short road trips around the region to visit antique stores.

There were a lot of cowboys and cowgirls walking along Oak Street, as well as full tour buses unloading near The Tree Of Knowledge (a small downtown park with an old oak tree as its centerpiece). It didn’t take me very long to figure out that this was a special event weekend in Arcadia. In fact – it was Rodeo Weekend. Specifically – it was the start of the 4-day “97TH Annual Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo“. My timing is impeccable. I picked the perfect day to be amongst hundreds of tourists along Oak Street. I wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. Historic Downtown Arcadia was vibrant with life on that Thursday morning !

This was my first visit to Arcadia. I had driven through a few times previously along U.S. 17 and Florida State Road 70. Both roads actually split into one-way roads through downtown Arcadia. It’s a nice small town with a fun historic pedestrian-friendly Main Street. I’ll be sure to visit again and again in the future. The coffee smelled really good as I walked by The Florida Farmhouse Coffee. Next time I won’t be walking by. I’ll be stepping in.

It’s back home to Sebring – and a first-time visit to our newest museum – next – #TravelThursday. Let’s keep traveling together.

SPOTIFY – You can hear “My Top 10 Hits” anytime by accessing my CountUp playlist on Spotify. All 10 hits are there from top to bottom. You can hear them in order from # 1 to # 10, or you can shuffle them. My playlist will be updated every weekend (usually before the actual chart is presented here on Mondays). You can link to it here.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. God used loud music on the radio in South Florida to reach me in August of 2006. I’ve been testifying about Him ever since.

Be blessed my friends !  May our God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday March 16TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

Today is the 2ND Anniversary of when I closed on my dream home in my dream neighborhood in my dream part of Florida (Sebring in Highlands County). I actually spent my first night in my dream home the night before (on March 15TH 2023), and then the next day I, my Real Estate Agent, and the sellers met at the Title company to transfer the home to me. Yet another dream came true on that day. God’s miracles continue in abundance.

In other news – my next sermon now has a title – “Ungodly & Sinful”. It’s from 1 Timothy 1:9:

For the law was not intended for people who do what is right. It is for people who are lawless and rebellious – who are ungodly and sinful – who consider nothing sacred and defile what is holy – who kill their father or mother or commit other murders.

I’m making great progress on my next sermon. It’s about half-done, and I’m also working on the PowerPoint Presentation (.PPT) that goes along with it simultaneously. It’s a different strategy for me. Normally I write the entire sermon and then I wait until I get the call to preach before I work on the .PPT. In this case – the .PPT is actually inspiring me to write more of my sermon. The plan is to complete both the sermon and the .PPT, and then immediately begin working on the next sermon on the next part of 1 Timothy 1.

Tomorrow is Saint Patrick’s Day. Enjoy the day. Make it a good one. Make it a day that you can look back at fondly in the future.

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.
