This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 5 blog posts on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Monday, and a special bonus post on Tuesday (New Year’s Day). I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. # 1 One Year Ago This Week – “Control (Somehow You Want Me)” – Tenth Avenue North

Last Thursday night in Estero Florida (between Fort Myers and Naples) I saw for King & Country and Zach Williams LIVE in concert.

Neon Feather opened the show a full 30 minutes before showtime. I had never heard of him before. He’s a trance, techno, and house deejay for Christ, and he remixes Christian tracks for other popular artists. He was very good, and I’m qualified to say that with my own background in that genre of music (before salvation). I plan to check out some of his dance remixes online.

Caitie Hurst was the next artist up at showtime (7 PM), and I had never heard of her before either. Neon Feather was one of her musicians. She was pretty good too. Her music was poppy and danceable.

Zach Williams was up next, and he plowed through 7 songs in a row including his first 4 big chart hits. He even threw in an original Christmas song. He sounded really good, and his band was awesome too. He’s becoming one of the biggest male stars in Christian radio, and deservedly so. I love hearing his story of salvation.

for King & Country was the headliner that the several thousand in attendance went crazy for (particularly little kids and teenaged girls). I’ve said it a few times before. I’ve never really been a fan of them or their music until just recently. Zach Williams was actually the selling point for me for this show, but as the concert approached I became more and more of a fan of the duo. They performed 4 Christmas songs, 9 of their hits (5 classics and 4 new ones from their new album), and 6 more Christmas songs (including “joy”). For much of their performance I was up on my feet singing along, clapping my hands, and dancing. (I had a floor seat very near the extended stage.)

It was an awesome 4-hour show on that Thursday night – one to remember for awhile.

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 3 blog posts on Thursday, Friday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Sunday Scripture

20181216 Sermon

On this 3RD Sunday of December our Lead Pastor Bob continued his “Journey To The Cross” sermon series with Scripture from God’s Word in Luke 19:37-42. We learned about the final year of Christ’s ministry, and how His journey led Him to the Garden of Gethsemane.

This was my final Sunday with my church family before Christmas. I’ll be on a short Christmas vacation next weekend up in an area of South Central Florida that I may call home in about 5 years – if it’s in God’s will for me. (I’m currently writing my next sermon about my plans into the future – versus God’s plans for me.)

“Sunday Scripture” returns in 2 weeks on Sunday December 30TH. I’ll be back tomorrow night with Week 96 of my Top 10 hits. Could there be a brand new # 1 smash at the top ?

May the everlasting love of our Creator, the peace of the newborn Christ, and the overwhelming joy of the Spirit be with you during this Christmas season and beyond.

‘Tis The Season

Christmas Tree 2018

This past Monday night my church family gathered together for 2 hours of fellowship, prayer, and pizza as we decorated our newly renovated sanctuary for Christmas. Atop our brand new stage stands our beautiful new(ish) Christmas tree with the multi-colored background. You saw a photo of our stage in midnight blue this past Sunday. Here it is in sunset red. We’ve also got garland, bows, and wreaths scattered all throughout the seating area.

One of my favorite aspects of being part of this small church family is that we are able to do this each year. We didn’t do this in my previous large church family – mostly because for 5 Christmas seasons our Sunday morning services were held inside a local movie theatre.

I don’t decorate for Christmas at all at home, and we won’t do so at the workplace either; although, an independent office in our building does have their own Christmas tree that they decorate. My family in Ohio (soon to be Texas) puts up the Christmas tree during the first or second week of November – just before my arrival each year – so I’m not part of that process either. (We celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas in one fun-filled week.)

Being with my church family for those 2 hours each year to create the Christmas spirit in our sanctuary ranks up there as 2 of my favorite hours of the year. I wouldn’t replace that fellowship with anything. The love is there with my brothers and sisters of my church family. Our Worship Pastor Ben said it best on our Facebook wall – “The Love of Jesus is in this place, and is apparent by the love we share with one another.” AMEN.
