The Major’s Walk-A-Thon

Sky: Partly Cloudy
Temperature: 73°F
Relative Humidity: 87%
Winds: Calm
Barometric Pressure: 29.99 Rising

My thoughts:

1.  This morning’s walk began a full 25 minutes before sunrise right at the start of civil twilight. I wanted to get a head start before the Sun heated up the environment.

2.  This was the longest ‘Walk-A-Thon’ ever – over 2.2 miles according to my good friends over there at Google Earth. It took me just shy of 42 minutes to walk the walk. I averaged PI (3.14) MPH. I’ve made considerable progress since those 25-minute 1.3-mile walks of January. It’s a fantastic journey all around and throughout my neighborhood on God’s fantastic journey.

3.  No ducks were harmed on this morning’s walk, and I was not scared either. They minded their own business, and so did I. The’re good like that !

4.  This was intended as the ‘Spring Season Finale’ of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’; however, as long as temperatures remain below 75°F early on a Saturday morning I will probably continue the momentum. The Summer hiatus of this walk may have been greatly exaggerated.

5.  After the walk I drove over to The Atlanta Bread Company to eat a MASSIVE breakfast (planned in advance by studying their menu earlier this morning at home). Unfortunately it appeared that The Atlanta Bread Company had gone out of business, or perhaps they were robbed, or maybe they were recovering from a fire overnight. I didn’t really know for sure because they were CLOSED for business a full hour after their scheduled opening time !  The doors were locked shut, and there was no sign on the doors to alert their customers as to why they were closed. I had no backup plan (my bad), so I spontaneously decided to get on Florida’s Turnpike southbound, head into Florida City, and pick-up a fast food breakfast at Arby’s. It just wasn’t the same, but it was OK I suppose.

FOOTNOTE:  Upon further review The Atlanta Bread Company actually does not open for business until 8 AM on Saturday mornings (as per their official web site). This contradicts the 6:30 AM opening time that is posted on their take-out menu.

Bedtime Stories

This is the 33RD edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’ – brought to you by I Love Cheese.com.

TODAY I enjoyed a 3½-hour Lunch with Paul and Phil at Homestead’s historic White Lion Cafe. We ate delicious food non-stop for about 1½-hours, and then we just sat there and talked about the world for the next two-hours after that. One of the estimated 53 topics of discussion that involved the three of us (as well as three employees of the restaurant) was the correct spelling of f-e-t-t-u-c-c-i-n-e. That occupied a good 15 minutes of our precious time together. By the time it was all said and done I felt like I had attended and graduated from Lee University in Cleveland Tennessee, as I had lived vicariously through Paul’s and Phil’s experiences of a lifetime there. I had a great time of fun, food, and fellowship, and we’ll have to do it all over again sometime soon !

In other news we’ve just completed the biggest Friday in the history of this blog. Over the past 21 days we have now scored our biggest Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday here on this blog as far as unique hits are concerned. THANKS to everyone for blogging with me on here !

TOMORROW MORNING on the blog I’ve got what could be the Spring season finale of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’. Be there as I report on my walk all around my neighbourhood. Then on Sunday afternoon get in on some fun, food, and fellowship of your own over at Homestead Bayfront Park as Life Pointe Church invades the beach for our bimonthly picnic. If you can’t make it over there then read all about it on the ‘Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad’ later that afternoon.

And so there you go with your ‘Bedtime Stories’ on a Friday night. Have a nice and pleasant evening with your loved ones, get some rest, and I’ll catch you all back here on the blog real soon.

Until we hang out again … remember this:

Bedtime Stories

It’s 10:30 PM on a Wednesday night. Do you know where your appetite is ?

When we experience food, fun, and fellowship in my Life Group we don’t play around. We mean business. We had enough food for about 50 people tonight even though there were only about 15 of us. That means that each person had to eat for 3 people. Since some people only ate for 2 people that means that I had to pick up the slack. Oh yeah, and J.T. has enough lunch and dinner leftovers to last him through the upcoming weekend !

It’s going to be another heavy duty afternoon of more food, fun, and fellowship this upcoming Sunday at Homestead Bayfront Park. BRING IT ON !

TOMORROW here on the blog I’ve got your weekly ‘Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame’. I’ve got a well-circulated ’round the Internet photo to share with you that illustrates the effect of a major news story from the Summer Of 2003 that caused an estimated six-billion-dollars in financial losses here in North America. But is the picture for real, or is it a complete and utter hoax ?  We’ll find out tomorrow afternoon.

Thursday is also the day that many of my favourite bloggers post some of their best work of the week in a dire effort to get included on my coveted ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’. Get to work bloggers !

And so that’s what I’ve got for this Wednesday night edition of ‘Bedtime Stories’. Have a safe and restful night, sleep tight, don’t let them bed bugs bite, and remember this:

A large company – feeling it was time for a shakeup – hired a new CEO. The new boss was determined to rid the company of all slackers.

On a tour of the facilities the CEO noticed a guy leaning on a wall. The room was full of workers, and he wanted to let them know that he meant business. He walked up to the guy leaning against the wall and asked, ‘How much money do you make a week ?’

A little surprised the young man looked at him and replied, ‘I make about $400 a week. Why ?’

The CEO then handed the guy $1,600 in cash and screamed, ‘Here’s four weeks’ pay. Now GET OUT and don’t ever come back !’

Feeling pretty good about himself the CEO looked around the room and asked, ‘Does anyone want to tell me what that goof-ball did here ?’

From across the room came a voice: ‘Pizza delivery from Domino’s.’

Bedtime Stories

This is ‘Bedtime Stories’ for a Tuesday night, and this edition of the ‘Bedtime Stories’ is all about things that I’m looking forward to doing soon.

– I’m looking forward to a fun night of food and fellowship with my Life Group family tomorrow (Wednesday) night.

– I’m looking forward to eating Lunch with this dude and this dude on Friday.

– I’m looking forward to quite possibly the Spring season finale of ‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ bright and early this Saturday morning.

– I’m looking forward to another fantastic Sunday morning at Life Pointe Church followed by an afternoon of fun, food, and fellowship at Homestead Bayfront Park with my church family.

– I’m looking forward to returning to Orlando for the first time in this new Life in two weeks to attend ‘The 2008 National New Church Conference‘. Returning to a place that I used to visit several times per year for all of the wrong reasons will be quite the accomplishment for me considering the reason why I am going up there this time around. I have lived the darkness and now I am alive in the daylight. I’ll be chasing that daylight straight up to Orlando to the former scene of the crimes. Get out of my way Satan. I have no time and no use for you anymore. I’m a Jesus Freak now. I praise Him !  I worship Him !  I follow Him !

Well that pretty much wraps things up for this blog tonight. This was another one of those ‘spur-of-the-moment’ blog entries that came to me as I typed it on here. I didn’t plan it. It just spontaneously happened. It seems like whenever I just let my fingers do the talking on here it always leads back to Him. He’s that amazing.

Have a really cool Tuesday night everyone with your loved ones, and I shall anxiously await your return to this blog again tomorrow. I love you all !
