Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

The Tuesday night tradition turns 20-months-old this week:

1.  We here in America’s Riviera have once again made International news headlines for all of the wrong reasons. The mutilations / murders of 19 cats in and around Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay by the so-called serial cat killer is being talked about all the way around the world. The accused 18-year-old murderer has posted bail earlier today set at $249,000.

2.  This is the video that was seen all the way around the world of the bear that was shot with a tranquilizer gun up in a tree, fell to a trampoline below, bounced off of it too high, and then missed the trampoline on the second fall.

3.  My Mom and my Brother may fly to Chicago soon to appear on an episode of Judge Jeanine Pirro (yet another daily syndicated TV court show). My Mom is the Plaintiff in a case that I can’t discuss any further. Judge J.P. is seen locally weekday afternoons at 3 PM on WSFL-TV (CW).

4.  Take away the word ‘like’ from the vocabulary of a typical kid, teenager, and twentysomething – and like … he or she would like … be like … speechless. I’m just sayin’.

5.  Hazy, Hot, and Humid with a High near 100°F. That’s what I can expect during the entire time that I will be in the northeastern suburbia of Dallas Texas later this week into this weekend. Me y mi familia plan to spend a majority of our life and times indoors near working HVACs !

That’s what’s on my mind on this Tuesday night. Thanks for reading !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

You know you want it:

1.  In just about a week Homestead has gone from brown and crunchy to green and lush. That’s what 10 inches of rain – over a foot in some areas – will do to the surrounding landscape. We are now right smack in the middle of a tropical rain forest. That’s why they call this ‘America’s Riviera’.

2.  I could use another three-day weekend like this past weekend. I used Saturday and Monday as my ‘stay-at-home’ / ‘get-caught-up’ days, and I used Sunday as my ‘play-outside-with-friends’ day. I enjoyed all three days in their own special ways. I’m thinking about repeating the scenario this weekend by taking Friday off. It all depends on my requirements at my workplace.

3.  Yesterday was Memorial Day – a day that we set aside each year to honour those who served, fought, and died defending our country and our freedom. Unfortunately in this new day and age our Armed Forces are not recognized and respected for the hard work that they do for us around the clock and around the world. Our military heroes should never ever be written off or forgotten.

4.  Say what you will about this recent Miami Herald article, but I think that the news of Homestead’s death has been greatly exaggerated. I strongly believe that she will recover rather nicely once the global recession eases and the full-blown economic expansion presses forward full blast. Thousands of people moved down here to Homestead from 2002 to 2007 for a reason, and they will resume their MASSIVE migration southwestward sooner rather than later. There are already signs that this is starting to occur. History has shown us over and over again that with each new recession the expansion that follows is bigger and stronger than any previous one before it.

5.  The month-long celebration that is my 42ND birthday continues for another couple of weeks. I’ve already celebrated it with my family over in North Texas, and now I hope to do the same with my friends and family here in Homestead. If you’re looking for that something special to treat me with for my very special day then you simply can’t go wrong with … FOOD !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

Let’s roll:

1.  If you don’t know what’s goin’ on in my Life today then you simply don’t read this blog. I pretty much reveal it all throughout the week on here. You snooze. You lose.

2.  As I compiled, wrote, and then ultimately posted last night’s ‘Monday Night Countdown’ on all things green I was pretty much laughing the whole time. When this lunatic posted his effectively sardonic comment late last night he thoroughly threw me over the edge – laughing hysterically all the way !  😆

3.  I ate a MASSIVE Lunch today at Beef O’ Brady’s, and for much of my meal I was the only customer in there. I had the whole joint to myself. I enjoyed the mother of all mouth-watering half-pound melted cheeseburgers – well-done !  Throw in a moundful of tasty curly fries and a large Coca Cola Classic, and THAT’S WHAT I’M TALKIN’ ‘BOUT WILLIS !

4.  We are not in a recession. We were never in a recession. We probably won’t be in a recession anytime soon. Having stated the facts it’s all irrelevant if a majority of Americans have the perception that we are in a recession. If they think it is so then it is so.

5.  Home prices in Miami-Dade County plummeted an estimated 28% year-to-year from May 2007 to May 2008. That’s the second-steepest drop in the entire country – second to the Las Vegas metro area. My Homestead condo was once worth nearly $200,000. Now I’d be lucky to get $150,000 for it. That’s still triple the price that I paid for it less than 7 years ago !

6.  Gas prices are on the way down (just as I forecasted several months ago). I really think that they could drop down to the $3.25 to $3.50 per gallon range in time for the Thanksgiving – Christmas holiday shopping season. Remember I wrote that.

7.  Do you see me ?  I’m the one on the two-lane road that’s right in front of the tailgater and right behind the slow-poke.

8.  The NFL exhibition season begins this Sunday night on NBC-TV as my Washington Redskins take the field in Canton Ohio against the Indianapolis Colts in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame Game.

9.  Twice in a row I’ve received what I consider to be subpar service at the Homestead Starbucks drive-thru early in the morning. Three strikes in a row and they may be OUT !

10.  Music Choice needs a digital music cable channel for Christian Rock. The closest channel that they have is one called ‘Contemporary Christian’, but it’s too ‘adult pop’ for me. I ROCK !

Thursday Night Internet Hoax Hall-Of-Shame

This is not necessarily an Internet hoax per se; however, it is a chain letter that is currently being circulated worldwide via E-Mail. It is overblown speculation based on an actual event. Read on:

Hmmmmmmmmm………..

You are aware, probably, that Barack Obama lost his bearings recently and said that he was going to campaign in all 57 states. You heard this? And everybody chalked it up to, ‘Well, he’s tired.’

Barack Obama says he’s gonna go out and campaign in 57 states, he was just tired, you know, it’s been such a long campaign, he’s been so many places, he probably thinks there are 57 states. Well, I have here a printout from a website called the International Humanist and Ethical Union. And here is how the second paragraph of an article on that website begins. ‘Every year from 1999 to 2005 the organization of the Islamic conference representing the 57 Islamic states presented a resolution to the United Nations commission on human rights called combating.’ And the title of the piece here is, ‘How the Islamic states dominate the UN human rights council,’ and there are 57 of them.

Obama said he’s going to campaign in 57 states, and it turns out that there are 57 Islamic states. There are 57 Islamic states. ; ; So did Obama just lose his bearings, or was this a more telling slip, ladies and gentlemen?

DO ALL AMERICANS A FAVOR AND FORWARD THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR EMAIL LIST….. With our country at odds with the Muslems, what will happen if Obama is one? Think and pray before voting!

Read more about it.

Read even more about it.
