My Top 10 Hits – Week 175

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday June 21ST 2020:

2019 – “Church (Take Me Back)” – Cochren & Co.
2018 – “Do It Again” – Elevation Worship
2017 – “Home” – Chris Tomlin

It’s an unusually quiet chart week this week. Admittingly I didn’t listen to much of K-LOVE this past week since they were in fundraising mode. I started listening to them as my primary radio station on the Tuesday after Presidents’ Day in February of 2017. Before that day I didn’t even know they existed. It immediately inspired the resurrection of this weekly hit music chart after a 7-year hiatus. A couple of months later before the start of their Spring pledge drive that year I began financially supporting them every month. I’ve been doing so ever since then.

I have nothing against the seasonal pledge drive, but I just want to hear good continuous music on the radio. This past week I listened to a lot of SiriusXM – both The Message and ’70s On 7.

This upcoming next couple of weeks I’ll listen to a lot of K-LOVE on the road – as well as other great radio stations such as WAY-FM and The JOY-FM. Next weekend’s chart will be unpublished. I’ll present my next Top 10 chart in 2 weeks on Monday July 06TH 2020.

This concludes another season here at #CountUp after 15½ weekends and 63 blog posts in a row every Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I hope that you enjoyed reading along and tracking with me over these past 3+ months. I’ve tried to be enlightening, entertaining, and informing – all at the same time. Now it’s time to get refreshed and rejuvenated.

I’ll be back for an all-new season of blogging in a couple of weeks – starting with “Sunday Scripture” on Sunday July 05TH 2020. I hope that you’ll join me then. In the meantime feel free to look back at older blog posts that you may have missed, or go outside and get some sun !

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on Twitter and Flickr.

Be blessed my friends !  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Sunday Scripture

Who do you pray for ?  Who do you pray for ?  If all of your prayers today were answered by God tomorrow – then how many people other than yourself would experience life-changing miracles ?  How about this: Would any of those people be complete strangers ?

But Chris – why would I pray for complete strangers ?  I want God to answer the prayers for my loved ones – my family and my friends.

Yeah – same here. But God commanded us to love your neighbor as yourself, and everyone is your neighbor. If you see or hear another person – no matter where you are – then he or she is your neighbor. Your neighbor is everyone in the world.

Pray for your neighbors. If you know what their specific needs are – then ask God to fulfill them. Be intentional when you pray. If you don’t know what their specific needs are – then pray for them anyway. Be genuine when you pray.

And pray for your loved ones. I pray for my family – by name – in Texas. I have family near Dallas and near Wichita Falls. That’s 10 family members – from age 7 to 89 – living within 3 hours of each other in North Texas. I’m going on a road-trip this upcoming week to a neutral location where I’ll visit and spend 4 days / 5 nights with 5 family members. Pray for me – and 1,700 miles on the road (round-trip – between here and there).

I pray for my church family – my current church family – my former (and still) church family – my extended church family. I count each of you reading this blog on a regular basis as part of my extended church family. We are all God’s children.

I pray for each and every one of you. You know I don’t know your specific needs, but God surely does. Pray to Him about them. Expect miracles. Never be discouraged. God sends His miracles in His time – when we least expect them.

I don’t know your specific needs, but that will never stop me from praying to God for you. I will always pray for my brothers and sisters – my friends and coworkers – my neighbors and even strangers – as the Holy Spirit calls on me to do so. That’s the God at work within us.

And church family – pray for me too. Pray for my continued forward momentum on this fantastic journey that God created and customized uniquely for me.

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. And pray for me too. Ask God to give me the right words so I can boldly explain God’s mysterious plan that the Good News is for Jews and Gentiles alike. (Ephesians 6:18-19 NLT)

Spring Season Finale

Greetings my friends. Thanks for checking-in and tracking with me. Happy Thursday June 18TH 2020. It’s the start of another weekend of blogging here at #CountUp – because weekends begin on Thursday mornings. This weekend is special though, as it’s my “Spring Season Finale” (hence the title). What does that mean ? That means it’s time to take a break from social media after 15½ weekends of non-stop blogging and 63 posts in a row.

This Spring season of blogging began on Sunday March 08TH 2020 – just as the global pandemic was gaining steam and forcing us into seclusion in our own homes. I had just returned from a Pastors’ conference of 5,000+ strong in Orlando as well as a MercyMe / Jeremy Camp concert in a packed sports arena near Fort Myers.

This past Monday and Tuesday I drove 21 and 22 miles respectively (to and from my workplace). That 22 miles was (incredibly) the most miles driven in a single day in over 3 months. I actually filled-up my car with gas that day for the first time in 50 days. I had previously gone 48 days between fill-ups.

This past Tuesday was also a rare 3-mile walking day for me (as per my Fitbit). It was the first one in over a month, and only the 9TH one since the global pandemic began. (3 miles is a little over 6,500 steps for me.)

So once this weekend is over I’ll be walking more, I’ll be driving more, and I’ll be getting more natural Vitamin D – outdoors. I’ll be driving about 1,700 miles (round-trip) after this weekend. That’s about the number of miles I’ve driven since February 01ST 2020 ! I’ll share the details with you when I return after the 04TH of July. #RoadTrip

But this weekend is just getting started. I’ll be back tomorrow (Friday) for an all-new RETRO from 2000. On Sunday I’ll share God’s Word with you. And then on Monday it’s my brand new Top 10 music chart. After that I’ll be on hiatus for almost 2 weeks.

I’ll catch you tomorrow. Have a great Thursday !

My New Normal

Since the COVID-19 pandemic began – or more specifically since Friday March 20TH 2020 – I’ve driven a grand total of 367 miles over the past 76 days. That’s an average of less than 5 miles per day. (Generally I average 28 miles per day over the course of a year including road-trips.)

Over the past 76 days I drove 0 miles on 47 of those days. #SaferAtHome

I haven’t driven more than 3 days in a row since March 17TH to 20TH (4 days in a row).

I filled-up with gas on April 27TH – 48 days after the previous time I filled-up. I still have more than a half-tank remaining.

All of this ends later this month when I embark on a 1,600+ mile road-trip. That 1,600+ miles will occur during an 8-day stretch in which I’ll visit longtime friends along the way, and spend quality time with family. #Excited

I finally got a haircut for the first time in over 4 months. Usually I get one after a little more than 2 months. My hair was out-of-control. I was starting to look a lot like disheveled “Younger Me”.

This Friday June 05TH is my birthday, and I’ll be enjoying a nice delicious Lunch inside a popular local restaurant for the first time since March 15TH. I’ll be eating out a lot during this month, as I take advantage of lots of free birthday delights !

It’s Thursday June 04TH 2020, and this blog post goes LIVE at 3 AM EDT (U.S. East Coast time). It’s the start of a fresh new weekend of blogging for me. I’ll be back tomorrow (Friday) to go RETRO – back to a previous birthday from 49 years ago. #1971
