SUMMER OF 2026 – Tomorrow is the big day when I reveal my Top 10 hits of the 16 weeks of summer from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend here in the U.S.A. Publication time is set for the usual 3 AM U.S. east coast time (0700 UTC) when all of my blog posts are published.

I’m up to my # 15 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010, and it’s a rock band named The Almost. In fact they are a local rock band to me, as they got their start in the Tampa Bay area 21 years ago. Aaron Gillespie founded the band as a 22-year-old, and he’s the only original member remaining. They scored 5 hits on my chart from 2007 to 2010, and “Southern Weather” was the biggest of them all. It spent 6 weeks at # 2, and it was my # 2 hit of the entire year of 2008. This is how I rocked back then.

Next week it’s my # 16 hit, and it’s HOT !

PHIL WICKHAM & CROWDER – Phil’s 14TH song on my chart – and Crowder’s 12TH – is a bonafide certified # 1 smash on the radio from coast to coast. Believe it or not – “It Really Is Amazing Grace” – was released way back in January. It took a while to start receiving spins on the radio, and some Christian radio stations have just recently added it as a new song to their rotation. Imagine my joy last Sunday morning when the Praise + Worship band at my home church kicked-off their four-song set with this song !

I’m up to my # 14 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010, and Stellar Kart are back. They were at # 12 with “Procrastinating”. 3 weeks after it fell off my chart in June 2007 – “Finding Out” entered my chart. It spent 17 weeks on my chart and went to # 1 – just like “Procrastinating” (on both counts). “Finding Out” is about learning more about God’s ways, and that’s exactly what I was doing back then, as I continue to do with each new day.

Next week it’s my # 15 hit, and as an amateur meteorologist I can almost relate to it.

TAUREN WELLS – His 13TH song on my chart over the past 9 years becomes his first # 1 smash. He’s the last of my current Top 25 artists to reach # 1. It’s his 112TH week on my chart.

My # 13 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010 was from an obscure band known as Transistor Radio. They were from Southern California, and like Stellar Kart (featured last week) they produced power pop punk – singing about how great God is. They built their fan base playing small local venues and posting often on their MySpace during its heyday. “Ra-Random” was their breakthrough hit early in 2008. It was about hitting rock bottom, and then realizing that you needed God more than ever before to see His light and be rescued out of the pit of despair.

Next week it’s my # 14 hit, and you’ll find out then who makes a quick return appearance.

RYAN STEVENSON – That song from 5 years ago still gives me goosebumps. It didn’t really sound like anything else on the radio at the time, and that’s what I liked about it. It had an eerie feeling to it. Nowadays it reminds me of that weird and uncertain post-pandemic era. It shot straight-in to my chart at # 5 (a rarity if you’ve been following my chart for any length of time). It drifted up and down between # 5, # 4, and # 3 for 10 weeks into August, and then it leapt to # 2, and then finally # 1 for 2 weeks in a row despite diminished radio airplay by that time. (I basically kept it alive in my own home.) Here’s the music video of that song that was a beautiful tribute to Ryan’s mom Phyllis based on her own words as she neared the end of her physical life here on earth:

My # 12 hit during my first 3½ years of salvation in Christ from August 2006 to January 2010 was from my first favorite Christian power pop punk band. They hailed from the Glendale / Phoenix Arizona area. They were Adam, Jordan, Cody, and Brian during that era, and they were Stellar Kart – named after a go-kart track that they thought was just stellar in California during a church youth camp trip. Their 2006 album “We Can’t Stand Sitting Down” was quite stellar with 3 back-to-back-to-back radio hits – including the middle hit – “Procrastinating”.

Next week it’s my # 13 hit, and it’ll be just so random.
