My Top 10 Hits – Week 270

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

#TOP10MONDAY WEEK ENDING – SUNDAY APRIL 17TH 2022 WEEK 270
TW LW WKS SONG TITLE ARTIST / SITE
1 2 12 See Me Through It
[1ST week @ # 1]
Brandon Heath
2 1 12 Brighter Days Blessing Offor
3 4 4 Wonder Working All Creatures
4 5 4 Fill My Cup Andrew Ripp
5 3 12 Holy Spirit Come Patrick Mayberry
6 6 10 Sunday Sermons Anne Wilson
7 10 6 Egypt Cory Asbury
8 9 2 Desesperado Evan Craft
9 8 5 Fake It Tauren Wells
10 1 The Healing Blanca Ft. Dante Bowe

# 1 This Week In:
2021 – “Good God Almighty” – Crowder
2020 – “Almost Home” – MercyMe
2019 – “Confidence” – Sanctus Real
2018 – “Freedom Hymn” – Austin French
2017 – “I Have This Hope” – Tenth Avenue North

NEW # 1 – After 4 out of the past 5 weeks at # 2 Brandon Heath finally ascends to my top spot with his peppy “See Me Through It”. It’s about turning to God when times get tough – when the road gets rough. In the trial and the pain – fire and the rain. With a full-scale attack – devil on my back. I know You’re gonna see me through it.

NEW # 1 NATIONWIDE – Jordan Feliz rises to # 1 nationwide with the most played song (by far) at U.S. Christian radio – “Jesus Is Coming Back”. It also spent 2 weeks at # 1 on my chart 6 and 7 weeks ago. It’s Jordan’s first # 1 song nationwide since his gold-certified debut smash in 2015 – “The River”.

FATHER STU – I saw “Father Stu” at a local movie theatre last Tuesday afternoon (first showing nationwide). It stars Mark Wahlberg as boxer-turned-priest Stuart Long (1963-2014). Mel Gibson plays his dad, and Jacki Weaver plays his mom. It was written and directed by Rosalind Ross – Mel Gibson’s partner. It’s touted by the media as a faith-based film, but I wouldn’t describe it that way. I think it’s more of a movie about a guy who turned to God. There’s a difference between a big-budget Hollywood movie about God and an independent faith-based film made far away from Hollywood and funded entirely by born-again Christians. Sometimes Hollywood gets it right, and sometimes not so much. I have mixed feelings about “Father Stu”. It was a good story, but I was turned-off by its extreme profanity, and heavy drinking and smoking throughout. (It’s Rated-R as a result.)

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 4 new entries – known as #TravelThursday, #RetroFriday, #SundayScripture, and #Top10Monday.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. I’m also on Twitter and Flickr.

Be blessed my friends !  May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

My Top 10 Hits – Week 269

Every Monday I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from the previous week. It’s the continuation of a weekly hobby that goes back 40+ years. Here’s this week’s chart:

#TOP10MONDAY WEEK ENDING – SUNDAY APRIL 10TH 2022 WEEK 269

2018 – “Freedom Hymn” – Austin French
2017 – “I Have This Hope” – Tenth Avenue North

LAST WEEK – So you missed last week’s edition ? No you didn’t. It wasn’t published. But it was updated, and there were big chart moves with 8 out of 10 hits moving up or down and just 2 non-movers. This week there are 8 non-movers, as my chart takes a breather after last week’s hyperactivity.

BRANDON HEATH – It was good to see Brandon perform “See Me Through It” LIVE on the Huckabee stage a couple of Saturday nights ago. The song sounded great with Tre’ Corley and The Music City Connection joining Brandon along with Mike Huckabee on bass. Not too many shows on TV will give Christian artists a chance to perform their latest or classic hits, but Huckabee is an exception to that rule. It’s also a solid weekly talk show that informs and entertains. You can catch it on TBN every Saturday night at 8 PM ET with an encore every Sunday night at 9 PM ET.

This blog is # 36 worldwide on the Top 80 Christian Music Blogs and Websites chart. Thank You for including us Feedspot !

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again this upcoming weekend – with 5 new entries on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1997

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 15, 25, 30, or 35 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 2ND Friday of the month, so I go back 25 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday April 13TH 1997:

  1. “Every Day Is A Winding Road” – Sheryl Crow
  2. “MMMBop” – Hanson
  3. “I Like It Like That” – The Blackout Allstars
  4. “Call Me” – Le Click
  5. “One More Time” – Real McCoy

Isaac, Taylor, and Zac Hanson from Tulsa Oklahoma introduced themselves to the world with a radio smash that dominated the airwaves during the Spring and Summer of 1997 (or Autumn and Winter south of the Equator). The world soon knew them as simply “Hanson”, and they stormed pop charts worldwide with their catchy popper “MMMBop”. It spent 28 weeks on my chart including 4 non-consecutive weeks at # 1. It was my # 6 hit of 1997 (out of 161 that charted).

Next #RetroFriday I’ll go back 30 years ago to April 1992. It’s when a hard rock band from Southern California skyrocketed to the top of my pop chart with a track more reminiscent of the rockin’ late-1980s.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with 2 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going retro with me !

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2007

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 15, 25, 30, or 35 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday April 01ST 2007:

  1. “Procrastinating” – Stellar Kart
  2. “Wake Up ! Wake Up !” – Everyday Sunday
  3. “Live Like We’re Alive” – Nevertheless
  4. “Forgiven” – Relient K
  5. “After The World” – Disciple

Those are all classics of the era right there. In my 8TH month of salvation I was completely immersed in the Christian pop and rock scene via my church, local radio, and online. Every single one of those songs (and many more of the time) bring me back to a part of my life that was unlike any before it. I was a baby Christian – on fire for Christ – a few months before my 40TH birthday.

Here’s the official music video for my # 2 hit that week 15 years ago:

Sometimes I wish I could recapture a sliver of that euphoria that I experienced during those early months as a baby Christian, but God does not intend to stay in place. He wants us to keep moving forward, and keep maturing with a soul on fire for Him. Don’t be sleepwalking through endless days. Don’t be procrastinating. Live like we’re alive !

Next #RetroFriday I’ll go back 25 years ago to April 1997. It’s when German Eurodance was dominant on the pop charts.

This is the end of an abbreviated blog weekend, as #SundayScripture and #Top10Monday are on hiatus this weekend. They will both return next weekend. In fact a full weekend of blogging returns next weekend – with 4 new entries on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.
