Upgraded

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but this blog site got an upgrade a couple of nights ago. This site now has a new address, and it’s based on my name now – http://www.revchrismday.com. If you go to the original URL it’ll automatically forward you to the new .com address. With the new address comes the removal of all advertising. No matter what device you view this site on – computer, smart phone, tablet – you won’t see anymore ads mixed in. I’ve retired the former “Saturday Night Retro” name of this blog site. That name dates back to a previous social media existence online, and it’s not congruent with the current direction of my social media presence. I will also no longer utilize “The Major” nickname. That name actually goes all the way back to the early-1990s when I first entered the alternate world of online via the BBS (bulletin board system) on my computer via dial-up telephone.

Here on this site you’ll continue to see my new blog posts every Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. Those are my 4-day “blog weekends”. Saturdays will remain my day of rest. My last 5 tweets will continue to appear on the right-hand side of this site, and my last 5 photos (from Flickr) will continue to appear below the tweets. I’m still on Facebook, but I stopped posting new material over there over a year ago. I’ve kept my account active so that I can stay current with my friends who only utilize Facebook.

I’ve got a lot of “housecleaning” to do on this site. I’ve neglected my “SERMONS” page, so that will be the next page to be updated and enhanced. I’m also working on mission and vision statements for this site (and for my online ministry).

I’ve got a lot of big plans coming up for this site in 2019 and beyond, and for the most part – I don’t even know what those plans are. You see it would be foolish and arrogant for me to say – this is going to happen, and that is going to happen, and it’s going to leave a mark, and it’s going to change the world. The Truth is that such plans can’t possibly succeed if God is left out of the picture.

When I returned this blog to its original home on the WordPress platform 13 months ago I made a commitment to God to have Him guide and direct me on the journey forward for this online ministry. I’m spending more time in a quiet place – listening to God – listening to His whispers to me. I’m ready to react with His blessings to proceed forth. Where God leads me – is where I will go.

The Major’s Top 10 Hits – Week 104

Every Monday night I post my all-new Top 10 Christian hit music chart based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday February 10TH 2019:

  1. “Maybe It’s OK” – We Are Messengers [# 2 last week / 11TH week on chart]
  2. “Best News Ever” – MercyMe [3 / 8TH]
  3. “Nobody Loves Me Like You” – Chris Tomlin [1 / 15TH]
  4. “Red Letters” – Crowder [5 / 8TH]
  5. “Forever On Your Side” – NeedToBreathe [6 / 7TH]
  6. “Even Then” – Micah Tyler [4 / 26TH]
  7. “Known” – Tauren Wells [7 / 27TH]
  8. “God Only Knows” – for King & Country [9 / 2ND]
  9. “Never Alone” – Tori Kelly & Kirk Franklin [10 / 2ND]
  10. “Look Up Child” – Lauren Daigle [- / 1ST]

# 1 One Year Ago This Week:
“Gracefully Broken” – Matt Redman Ft. Tasha Cobbs Leonard

We Are Messengers finally reach # 1 on my chart with their 3RD hit single in a row. “Magnify” peaked at # 2 in 2017, “Point To You” hit # 3 in 2018, and now “Maybe It’s OK” becomes the 30TH # 1 smash of this 3RD era of my chart. That makes it my favorite song on the radio right now. I’ll be singing along loud and proud when they perform it LIVE right in front of me at the upcoming TobyMac concert here in South Florida.

Micah Tyler does something amazing this week. His former # 1 smash “Even Then” spends its 26TH week on my chart. A year ago this week his former # 1 smash “Different” fell off of my chart after 26 weeks. Micah is getting ready to go on a 9-week nationwide tour with MercyMe, and I’ve got a floor seat for their Tampa Florida show in May.

Tauren Wells sets an all-new longevity record during this 3RD era of my chart, as “Known” spends its 27TH week on my chart. I’m still singing along to this song at home and in my car.

I’m fully known, and loved by You.
You won’t let go – no matter what I do.
And it’s not one or the other.
It’s hard truth and ridiculous grace.
To be known – fully known, and loved by You.
I’m fully known, and loved by You

This concludes another weekend of blog posts. I’ll do it again next weekend – 4 blog posts on Thursday, Friday, Sunday, and Monday. I don’t blog on Saturdays. That’s my day of rest.

Your likes, follows, and comments are always appreciated. Thank You for being part of my online ministry to share God’s Good News and win souls for Christ through His music. Enjoy this week my friends. I’m on Twitter @ChrisMDay, and I’m also the man behind the tweets for my church @LivingWatersHFL. May God bless you – and fully know you – always and forever. Amen.

Bible Christian Church God Ministry Scripture

Sunday Scripture

And so – dear brothers and sisters – we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By His death – Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house – let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting Him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep His promise. Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, but encourage one another – especially now that the day of His return is drawing near. (Hebrews 10:19-25 NLT)

The Major’s Top 5 Hits RETRO – 1989

Every Friday night I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 10, 20, or 30 years ago (rotating each week). Here it is – for the week ending Sunday February 12TH 1989:

  1. “Straight Up” – Paula Abdul
  2. “The Lover In Me” – Sheena Easton
  3. “She Wants To Dance With Me” – Rick Astley
  4. “When I’m With You” – Sheriff
  5. “Born To Be My Baby” – Bon Jovi

30 years ago this weekend Paula Abdul completed her ascent from relative obscurity to becoming a household name worldwide as her “Straight Up” skyrocketed to # 1 nationwide (and simultaneously on my chart). It fueled one of the most successful debut albums (“Forever Your Girl”) in U.S. pop history. Its award-winning music video was an instant classic for MTV near the end of the peak of the network’s music video era, and it was created and released just a few weeks before its single hit the top of the charts.

Meanwhile on the local party scene a young 21½-year-old wild and crazy version of me occasionally partied the club scene at Confetti on East Commercial Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale – where Uptown’s “(I Know) I’m Losing You” – got everyone out on the dance floor as whistles blew, sirens blared, and confetti blasted in the air all around us. Good Times. (A Regions Bank now sits on the former site of that legendary nightclub.)

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday afternoon with “Sunday Scripture” – because Thank God – I’m not the man I used to be back then in 1989. Enjoy your Saturday. Make it memorable.
