MERCYME, ZACH WILLIAMS, SAM WESLEY – This upcoming weekend I’ll be seeing them LIVE in concert. It’ll be my 5TH MercyMe concert. I previously saw them in 2015, 2019, 2020, and 2021. I actually saw MercyMe in March 2020 just a few days before the world shut down due to the COVID pandemic. It’ll be my 3RD Zach Williams concert. I previously saw him in 2017 and 2018. And Sam Wesley – he’s Bart Millard’s son. He was one of the opening acts of the 2021 MercyMe concert.

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday March 30TH 2025, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us celebrate this great new day of believing, following, trusting, loving, and being more like our Lord + Savior Jesus Christ. Let us love our neighbor as ourself.

After leading Friday Night Bible Study at my church the previous week – I missed it this past Friday night. I was up the road in Avon Park at the Three Dog Night concert. That’s right – the legendary rock band that was formed when I was born in 1967. They are still touring with one original member. I’ll write about the concert this upcoming #TravelThursday.

It was another great week of Bible studying and sermon writing. I’ve begun writing my next sermon after next, and it’s already about a third done. It’s also got a title – “Parenthesis & Praise”. (It covers Paul’s parenthesis in his first letter to Timothy – 1:12-17.)

See what I did there ? I’ll also wrap-up Chapter 1 with Paul’s instructions for his trusted assistant (1:18-20).

I thank Christ Jesus our Lord – who has given me strength to do His work. He considered me trustworthy and appointed me to serve Him – even though I used to blaspheme the name of Christ. In my insolence – I persecuted His people. But God had mercy on me because I did it in ignorance and unbelief. Oh – how generous and gracious our Lord was ! He filled me with the faith and love that come from Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 1:12-14 NLT)

My testimony is featured each week here on #SundayScripture – whether it’s part of a sermon, a testimony, or just me writing about the events of the past week. Hopefully it encourages you and inspires you to seek the Lord – and get closer to Him with each new day.

Florida Medal Of Honor Memorial

Welcome back to #TravelThursday. This week I’m writing about my first-time visit a little over 3 weeks ago to our newest museum right here in my hometown of Sebring Florida. It’s the Florida Medal Of Honor Memorial.

Their Mission is “to honor and preserve the legacy of Florida Medal of Honor recipients through education, leadership, and inspiring displays, ensuring their courage and sacrifice are never forgotten.”

24 Medal of Honor recipients are Floridians – including our very own Major Thomas “Mickey” McGuire Jr. (1920-1945; Sebring High School Class of 1938). Check out his displays inside the Visitors Center.

What a wonderful Memorial (outside) and a beautiful Visitors Center (inside). It’s a fantastic addition to downtown Sebring, and as a Director of a neighboring historical museum – I welcome them to the family. I went home that night, and the next day I wrote them a check to cover a 5-year membership for myself. I want to be part of their growth and evolution. I want to support them in any way that I can.

Fun Fact: Surrounding the museum and the memorial are mostly (90%) native Florida plants – over 650 of them – including over 40 species. The plants were selected based on their colors, textures, and interactions with wildlife – attracting and supporting local butterflies, birds, and beneficial insects.

They are located at the corner of South Commerce and South Eucalyptus in downtown Sebring – 0.4 miles from our Circle – right next to the Highlands County Government Center. They are open 5 days a week – Tuesdays to Saturdays – from 10 AM to 4 PM. In addition to their official web site (hyperlinked above) – you can check them out on both Facebook and X.

Mama Told Me Not To Come, but The Show Must Go On, so we’ll Shambala An Old Fashioned Love Song Out In The Country – at least this One time, so that there is Joy To The World for the Black And White – next – #TravelThursday. Let’s keep traveling together.

THE AFTERS – Josh Havens, Matt Fuqua, and Dan Ostebo are The Afters. Josh and Matt founded the band 26 years ago in 1999 after working together at a Starbucks in Mesquite Texas (near Dallas). The Afters are one of just a few acts that appeared on the previous Salvation Era of my chart (2006-2010). Their smash “Never Going Back To OK” spent 26 weeks on my chart at the end of 2007 and the first 5 months of 2008. It was my # 9 hit of the entire year. It was also the most-played song of the year at U.S. Christian Radio. They are still praising and worshiping their Lord + Savior Jesus Christ, as they proclaim that He never gave up on them.
