The K-LOVE Fan Awards aired this past Friday night on TBN. It was canceled last year due to the pandemic. I actually wasn’t planning to watch it as it aired, as I was on vacation. But I finished seeing and doing everything that I had planned on my vacation, so I sat on my bed in my hotel room, and I watched it, and I enjoyed it, and I sang along to it. It was a fun show with a fun host (Matthew West) – one of only two awards shows that I still watch on TV. (The other being the GMA Dove Awards.)

Normally (as I’ve done in the past) I’d live-tweet during the original broadcast of the show (@ChrisMDay), but not so this year since I hadn’t planned to watch it until after I returned home from vacation. I’ll try again for the live-tweet during the 2022 awards show. (One of these years I plan to attend it LIVE and in-person in Nashville.)

I voted for 7 of the K-LOVE Fan Awards, and 4 of my 7 votes won:
Male Artist Of The Year (Zach Williams – one of my favorite singers)
– Breakout Single (“Rise” – Cain – my # 4 hit of all of 2020)
– Worship Song Of The Year (“Waymaker” – Michael W. Smith)
– Song Of The Year (“There Was Jesus” – Zach Williams Ft. Dolly Parton).

There were a lot of great LIVE performances during the awards show, and Tauren Wells and Gary LeVox of Rascal Flatts performing “Until Grace” was one of my favorites of the night. It’s my only new entry this week at # 9.

Here’s the official lyric video for “Until Grace”:

Sunday Scripture

Greetings my friends. It is Sunday June 06TH 2021, and this is the day that our LORD has made. Let us rejoice. Let us be glad in it. Let us look upon our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ for guidance and direction – for safety and security.

I have returned from a 77-hour / 472-mile summer vacation road-trip to and from Florida’s Treasure Coast. I spent some quality time, I learned a lot, I had a lot of fun, and I met some great people along the way from Stuart to Sebastian Inlet State Park.

I have at least a month’s worth of new material to write about, and I’ll be sharing that for the next 4 or 5 Thursdays starting this Thursday June 10TH 2021.

One of my many fun visits was to the McKee Botanical Garden just south of the city limits of Vero Beach off U.S. 1. It’s on the U.S. National Register Of Historic Places. From 1932 to 1976 it was known as McKee Jungle Gardens, and it was a popular roadside tourist attraction right alongside the main highway for the U.S. East Coast.

That’s the King James Version from the Book Of Genesis – Chapter 2 – Verses 8 & 9a.

Thank you for reading my blog for this day, and may:

The LORD bless you, and keep you.
The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you.
The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN.

My Top 5 Hits RETRO – 2006

Every Friday I post the Top 5 of one of my classic hit music charts based on personal preference and influenced by radio airplay from either 15, 25, 30, or 35 years ago this weekend (rotating each week).

It’s the 1ST Friday of the month, so I go back 15 years ago. Here it is – for the week ending Sunday June 04TH 2006:

  1. “Ridin'” – Chamillionaire Ft. Krazie Bone
  2. “What You Know” – T.I.
  3. “Promiscuous” – Nelly Furtado Ft. Timbaland
  4. “Beep” – The Pussycat Dolls Ft. WILL.I.AM
  5. “Pump It” – The Black Eyed Peas

I don’t have much of anything to say about that chart. I was obviously in a hip hop era back then, and I don’t remember much of it at all. I was at a very low place at the time. About 11 weeks later my life would change forever.

One of my historical Excel spreadsheets tells me that I saw a free movie at my local movie theatre on my 39TH birthday on June 05TH 2006. That was “The Break-Up” starring Vince Vaughn and Jennifer Aniston. I rated it 3.5 stars.

Next Friday on RETRO I’ll go back 25 years ago to June 1996.

It’s halftime my friends. I’ll be back on Sunday and Monday with 2 more blog posts for this weekend. Enjoy your Saturday. Thanks for going RETRO with me !

My 54TH Birthday

This Saturday June 05TH 2021 is my 54TH birthday ! I was born at 10:13 PM CDT in Room 340 at Selma Baptist Hospital in Selma Alabama. My Dad was stationed at nearby Craig Air Force Base at the time. We were there until early in 1969, and then my Dad left the USAF to begin a new career in life insurance. We moved to Greenbelt Maryland (just outside of Washington D.C.). That’s where my Dad was born and raised (D.C. and adjacent Prince Georges County Maryland). He lived there for the first 22 years of his life. After graduating from Bladensburg High School (Class Of 1959) he attended 4 years at the University Of Maryland in College Park. He joined the USAF in 1963.

Fast forward to June 05TH 1971 (also a Saturday), and here’s the scene with me – 50 years ago:
