Monday Night Countdown

Vacationers and snowbirds alike spend millions of dollars each year to visit this particular region of the U.S.A. that I call home year-round. It’s America’s Riviera, and for those of us who call it home we tend to get bored and restless after awhile. Even we need to go elsewhere on vacation to get away from it all. Once we return back home again then that’s when we really appreciate what we actually have down here.

Here are my TOP 5 vacation destinations that I’d love to visit to get away from it all for just a short little while:

5.  Australia / New Zealand – This is one of the top entries on my personal ‘Bucket List’. I am very intrigued with these two secluded nations. In a previous life on the web I used to have an actual fanbase in this part of the world.

4.  United Kingdom – I lived there for two years and one week nearly a quarter of a century ago. I haven’t been back since. I promised myself that I would be back when I departed back then. I intend to keep that promise – some Summer.

3.  Madeira – This is perhaps the most exotic place that I’ve ever visited in my entire Life. I did so in early November 2007 as part of a Mediterranean / Transatlantic Carnival cruise from Rome Italy to Miami Florida. I was only on the (capital) island for a day, but I could have spent at least a week there.

2.  Bermuda – I visited there twice as a little kid back in the mid-1970s, and I haven’t been back since. A couple of nights ago I actually did research online regarding seasonal hotel rates on the island. I think I know where I wish to stay now once I decide to pull the trigger on this whole vacation thing there.

1.  Mexico – I made this my top vacation destination because this will actually occur within the next two weeks. I’ll be visiting Progreso and Cozumel on back-to-back days as back-to-back ports-of-call on my upcoming Carnival cruise. I’ve never been to Progreso. I’ve been to Cozumel more than any other port-of-call, and it’s probably my favourite of them all.

Saturday Night Retro

2002 – What can I say about this crazy year in my previous life ?  It kicked-off in a wild way in January – a family vacation en Viva La$ Vega$ – my first visit there. Me, Brother, Mom, and Dad stayed at the New York-New York, and we enjoyed the sights and the sounds of the Las Vegas Strip for the first time ever. We returned to our respective realities (homes) exactly 7 years ago today – on the 24TH of January. Me and my brother had such an excellent time there that we decided to return (on our own) just 4 months later in May 2002. We went back for a 3RD visit in January 2005, and I haven’t been back since. My brother’s been back at least a couple of times since then – most recently a couple of weeks ago (on alleged business).

2002 was also the start (and peak) of my own personal European Techno era in which I totally lived for the hard breakbeats of the house. I think that me and my brother would totally agree that it all started at the RumJungle. We would also agree that it all started with this amazing breakthrough techno track from German DJs Voodoo & Serano. Check it out here for your Retro review:

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– This should not be confused with the ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’.
– These are ‘Mini Thoughts’ in 15 words or less.
– It’s like a spinoff of the wildly popular flagship Tuesday night series.
– Now that I’ve got that out of the way it’s on to business:
– It was about 61°F in my home when I awoke this morning.
– That was more than 20°F less cold than it was outside at the time.
– It was also about 13°F below normal.
– The normal temperature at night while I sleep is 74°F.
– I can’t control it when it’s unusually frigid outside.
– When I returned home from work it was just below 67°F inside.
– That’s about 8°F below normal.
– I received word late yesterday that my Nutter Butter cookies are safe to eat.
They are not affected by the MASSIVE Peanut Butter recall.
– That’s awesome because I have 11 packs of 4 cookies in my fridge.
– Nutter Butters are my favourite cookies in the entire universe !
– I enjoyed the KFC Variety Big Box Meal for Lunch today.
– That included Potato Wedges. YUM !
– I could eat 250 Potato Wedges in one sitting.
– I may do another ‘Walk-A-Thon’ on-location somewhere.
– I may visit Coral Castle for the first time since 1987.
– I’ll be embarking on a Carnival cruise in just 16 days.
– This is a weekend without the NFL for the first time since last July.
– I’ll have ‘My NFL Weekend Game Picks’ next Thursday.

Homestead’s Coldest Day In Nearly 3 Years !

Homestead is shivering, and all across America’s Riviera South Floridians are bundled up in their coziest winter outfits that usually only see the light of the day for just a few days during each Winter season.

Today was unofficially our coldest day in nearly 3 years – since February 13TH 2006. It was also one of our coldest days of the past decade !

Get ready for actual air temperatures to plummet to within a few degrees of the freezing mark early tomorrow morning with wind chills deep into the 20s. Frost is also likely all throughout the region. (Say goodbye to your green grass.)

You want the warm air back ?  You get your wish this weekend !  An extended period of seasonal temperatures returns on Friday. It will stick around for at least a week. You’ll have plenty of time to thaw out.

In the meantime – REMEMBER THIS !
