Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  WELCOME to the monumental 1,000TH blog entry here on the WordPress incarnation of this here blog. It took about 21 months to get to 1,000 posts. As most of the other blogs that were near and dear to me have come and gone this one right here just keeps on churning along. I thank each and every one of you for reading, commenting, laughing, agreeing, and disagreeing with me. Let’s keep it goin’ indefinitely.

2.  I finally gave in to Twitter, and now you can follow me at the majorhitwaves name. You can also read my last 7 Twitter tweets over on the right-hand side of this blog’s home page underneath the ‘Follow Me On Twitter’ heading. I personally made myself crack-up severely when I selected my Junior year in High School picture from 25 years ago as my avatar. I’m still chuckling at that.

3.  This past Sunday morning my favourite radio deejay in the entire universe – Kelly D. – actually tried to convince me that Major League Baseball should be my favourite sport to follow due to its extensive utilization of statistics (being the statistician that I am). I told her that I find Baseball to be boring whether it be on the radio, on television, or LIVE and in-person. Although the Florida Marlins do intrigue me with their consistent high-scoring games whether they win or lose. I adore numbers that constantly change. Numbers are my favourite toys.

4.  My ‘Trouble In The Tropics’ forecast from yesterday is right on-track as you can plainly see. We are now within that 24-hour window where the remnants of once Tropical Depression Ana are affecting us. The 3 to 5 inches of rain has begun, and the 25 MPH wind gusts at times are here. Expect rapidly improving conditions (sunny, hot, and dry) by tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon – and continuing for at least the next 4 to 6 days.

5.  I just weighed myself, and I currently weigh-in at 173 pounds. I’ve pretty much been stuck in the lower-170s for several years now. I was previously stuck in the upper-160s for several years, and before that it was the mid-160s. I see a negative trend developing here. I’m getting heavier as I get older. I’ve been advised by my middle-aged counterparts that this is standard operating procedure, and that there is absolutely nothing that I can do to prevent it from happening. Gotcha. As long as my cholesterol drops like a rock (with the Lipitor) it’s all good.

The Fortune Cookie Message Of The Week Club

Has it really been a whole 3 weeks since I last enjoyed Chinese Food ? I need to make sure that I get my weekly intake of it, for it’s good for me and my elevated cholesterol diet. (I think.)

Trouble In The Tropics

BACK by popular demand – because at least a half a dozen friends and family requested it – it’s ‘Trouble In The Tropics’. But first here’s the legal disclaimer:

I am NOT certified by the American Meteorological Society. I do NOT work for the National Weather Service OR the National Hurricane Center OR the National Oceanic And Atmospheric Administration. I do NOT work for any television or radio station. I am merely an amateur weather forecaster with about 30 years of technical experience in the hobby. That’s all it is – a hobby. Utilize my weather forecasts in any way that you see fit. I tout about an 80% accuracy rate. Use common sense. Do what you feel is right.

OK – Now that I’ve got THAT out of the way – here we go:

ANA – I forecasted its first degeneration. It happened. I forecasted its second degeneration. It happened. Now I’m forecasting its total dissipation. It’s starting. Expect the remnants of Tropical Depression Ana to give us numerous showers and thunderstorms starting on Tuesday afternoon and continuing for about 24 hours until Wednesday afternoon. Some portions of the local Homestead area could receive 3 to 5 inches of rain. Highest wind gusts – 25 MPH at times. No worries.

BILL – Not a player for us. I’m forecasting it to intensify into a MAJOR Category 4 Hurricane and curve well out in the open Atlantic – possibly affecting Bermuda on Saturday. This was NEVER a player for us.

CLAUDETTE – Before she was Claudette she was all of that rain that we received during the day on Saturday (2-3 inches).

Lead Pastor Travis brought the message this morning.
– It was Week 6 of 6 of “Devastation And Redemption”.
– My two cents worth – It was the most relevant and powerful series of the year.
– Travis better bring it hard with the next message series !
– Today’s message was subtitled “Enjoy A Promised Land”.
– Let’s get cliché for a moment here:  No pain – No gain.
– Take any circumstance, add God, throw in contentment, and you’ve got gain.
– If it don’t hurt then you’re too comfortable.
– You can’t grow if you’re too comfortable.
– If you’re not growing then you’re dying.
– Don’t be some wooden mannequin just sitting there watching time fly by.
– Do something.
– Activate.
– Be fruitful with your God-given talents.
– Expand His Kingdom.
– Everything else must be secondary to your personal relationship with Jesus.
– When other things are placed prior to God you can expect devastation.
– But God will always welcome you back with open arms.
– That’s redemption.
– Your heart can’t be right until your money is right.
– Your money can’t be right until your heart is right.
– We are destined for the prosperity of God.
– Once we truly believe in Him it all works out in the end.

This morning’s teaching was based on the following Books, Chapters, and Verses out of The Truth:  James 1:2-4, 1 Timothy 6:6, Matthew 6:19-21, Joel 3:17-21, Revelation 21:1-7.

This week I celebrate the 3RD anniversary of my “Rebirthing”, and this Wednesday on “My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics” I’m featuring the video to the song that was there for me on the radio in the beginning. Be sure to join me as the euphoria of God’s miracle continues. Until then may God Bless each and every one of you. Go forth and love God and Man with reckless abandon.
