Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s the longest-running episodic weekly series in the entire history of this blog:

1.  Friends – I don’t want the deadly swine flu. I don’t even want the ‘at-home-in-bed-sick’ swine flu. I’m just putting that out there for everyone. Please wash your hands thoroughly after you touch things. This personal health and hygiene message was provided to you as a public service by the ‘Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’. The More You Know.

2.  An extended coworker recently stated that I remind him of Ernie Douglas from “My Three Sons“. Well that’s certainly a nice obscure reference from some 45 years ago !  The funniest thing about it is the fact that it was one of my favourite TV shows to watch as a kid of the 1970s.

3.  This season’s cycle of “The Celebrity Apprentice” on NBC-TV has been one of the most interesting, exciting, intriguing, suspenseful, and downright shocking seasons of any prime time reality show in television history. This has been one season where I refuse to record it for later viewing. I must watch it LIVE, and I must not be interrupted for anything whatsoever while it is on !

4.  I do not use Twitter, I do not know how to use Twitter, and I do not wish to learn how to use Twitter. This WordPress blog right here is as technologically-enhanced as I plan to get for the unforseeable future. If you wish to know what I’m doin’ or what’s goin’ on in my Life then feel free to read all about it right here. Although I post a lot of fun things on here during the week (filler material) this blog is also a ministry for me. It is how I disciple to the rest of the world. If you’re interested then stay tuned to what I have to share with you. If you’re not interested then check out other blogs that are out there on the interwebs.

5.  I’m hangin’ out with some good friends o’ mine at Homestead‘s White Lion Cafe tomorrow night. This just in. I love to eat ENORMOUS quantities of food !

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– I’m glad to be back at home again tonight.
– This was clearly the busiest week at work for me in modern history.
– It was also the most productive week in modern history.
– As far as my career is concerned modern history = since the end of July 2007.
– My career renaissance continues.
– I am visibly exhausted from this week at work.
– I had planned all week to attend a party tonight up at Dave & Busters.
– I’m not gonna make it.
– I put myself on the injured exhausted reserve list.
– Hopefully I’ll still get invited to future shindigs.
– Up until the very end I thought that I would have to cancel my day off.
– Nope. I didn’t have to cancel it.
– My 3-day weekend has already begun.
– I’ll be back at work for another busy week come Monday morning.
– What will I do on my day off tomorrow ?
– Maybe I’ll eat an ENORMOUS breakfast at Denny’s.
– Maybe I’ll go and get a haircut at Woody’s.
– Maybe I’ll go and do some grocery shopping at Publix.
– Maybe I’ll do some laundry aqui a mi casa.
– Maybe I’ll go to The Shops At Sunset Place (my former playground).
– Maybe I’ll see a movie there.
– Maybe I’ll hang out with Patricia and Venus at this place.
– It should be a fun Friday off for me tomorrow with whatever I actually do.
– Don’t forget the ‘Friday Night Blogroll Review’ tomorrow.
– I’m identifying my favourite blog entries of this past week.
– One of them will win the coveted ‘Major Bloggie Award’.
– Will it be yours ?
– Peace be with you.
– And also with you.
– I’m chillin’.

Saturday Morning Shenanigans

‘The Major’s Walk-A-Thon’ has once again been pre-empted this weekend due to non-ideal weather conditions (70°F, 100% relative humidity, scattered fog). Time is practically running out on this season’s walks around my neighbourhood, but maybe I’ll be able to squeeze in one more walk on a Saturday morning before it gets too unbearably warm, humid, and wet outside.

In lieu of the walk I did the following this morning:

1.  Cracker Barrel – I ate breakfast. The Shenanigans there included me being served by a different waitress even though my longtime breakfast waitress of the past many years was there working her shift. She came over and talked to me and told me a riddle. It was good to see her.

2.  Busy Bee Car Wash – I’ve taken 4 cars there over the course of the past 20 years (since 1989), and I’ve always gotten a clean car out of the deal. They do a very thorough job inside and outside. I truly recommend them. The’re in Perrine at theoretical SW 182ND Street at U.S. 1 (southbound).

3.  Target – I go there about once every 3 or 4 months, and I usually go on an extended shopping spree while I’m there. This morning was no different, and it was a mixed assortment of food, toiletries, and clothes. I like to go there when they first open up in the morning and there’s less people in my way. It started getting crowded towards the latter part of my shopping spree.

I ended up driving about 35 miles during my eating, car washing, and shopping excursion this morning. During much of the 35 miles I was either being tailgated, or I was stuck behind a slow-moving vehicle in front of me. I couldn’t wait to get off of the streets and back into my home sweet home this morning.

Those are my ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’ for this weekend. Be sure to check out 1979 on the ‘Saturday Night Retro’ tonight, and get ready to dance to some pop music of the times.

Until then – I leave you with one final Shenanigan, so REMEMBER THIS !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

A Tuesday night tradition since 2007 continues …

1.  It’s a chilly day in April here in America’s Riviera. We didn’t even crack the 75°F mark this afternoon, and temperatures early tomorrow morning should plummet into the upper-40s !  It’ll be another chilly day tomorrow too (below 75°F again).

2.  It’s hard to believe that just 24 hours ago it was nearly 90°F outside (and in my living room as well). Next month 90°F will be a normal afternoon here, and our unusually long and chilly winter season will be a distant memory.

3.  Hopefully we won’t be talking much about these boys and girls later this year – Ana, Bill, Claudette, Danny, Erika, Fred, Grace, Henri, Ida, Joaquin, Kate, Larry, Mindy, etc., etc., etc.

4.  ‘Hey Chris – Why are you all dressed up today ?’  I got that several times at work today. It happens every time I go out to the stores and treat myself to new clothes (which doesn’t happen very often). It’s all good. I’m sharp like that. 8)

5.  I know that I’ve been putting this off since essentially last September (when my previous longtime Doctor disappeared into thin air), but I still need to search for a General Family Practice Doctor here in the greater Homestead area. I’m looking for a regular male M.D. that speaks and understands fluent English that is within about 10 years of my age. He obviously needs to be able to accept new customers (some don’t) as well as accept bonafide certified genuine BCBS medical insurance. Send me any legitimate tips that you may have. I’m approaching my 42ND birthday. Elvis Presley died of the mother of all MASSIVE heart attacks at the ripe young age of 42. Need I say more ?
