Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– It’s the 22ND edition of these ‘Thursday Night Mini Thoughts’.
– This is as spontaneous as it gets with me.
– What a difference a day at work makes.
– After a couple of rough and tough days it all turned around today.
– Today evolved into one of the greatest days in recent memory.
– Most of the day was spent inside of a conference room.
– Thursdays are like the final 15 minutes of a typical episode of “The Apprentice“.
– Thursdays are like the Super Bowl, and Fridays are like the off-season.
– I’m looking forward to returning to work tomorrow and getting stuff done.
– This is as far away from Christmas Day as it gets.
– It was exactly 6 months ago, and it’s exactly 6 months in the future.
– Farrah Fawcett died just before 12:30 PM EDT today. She was 62.
– She became an International megastar at 29 with “Charlie’s Angels“.
– I remember her wall posters from back then.
– Who remembers Dynamite (magazine) ?

Dynamite Magazine - September 1977

– That was one of my favourite magazines while growing up in the 1970s.
– Nowadays my favourite magazine is Entertainment Weekly.
– I’ve been a loyal subscriber since Issue # 1 over 19 years ago.
– To this day I still have virtually every single issue ever published.
– I’m going into hibernation mode this Friday afternoon after work.
– I’ve got a lot of work to do around the home.
– Much of it has to do with filing paperwork that’s scattered all around.
– I need to organize important documents much better than they are now.
– I’ll be at Life Pointe Church on Sunday morning – bright and early.
– I’m looking forward to seeing everyone there.
– See you later alligators.
– After awhile crocodiles.

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

The Tuesday night tradition turns 20-months-old this week:

1.  We here in America’s Riviera have once again made International news headlines for all of the wrong reasons. The mutilations / murders of 19 cats in and around Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay by the so-called serial cat killer is being talked about all the way around the world. The accused 18-year-old murderer has posted bail earlier today set at $249,000.

2.  This is the video that was seen all the way around the world of the bear that was shot with a tranquilizer gun up in a tree, fell to a trampoline below, bounced off of it too high, and then missed the trampoline on the second fall.

3.  My Mom and my Brother may fly to Chicago soon to appear on an episode of Judge Jeanine Pirro (yet another daily syndicated TV court show). My Mom is the Plaintiff in a case that I can’t discuss any further. Judge J.P. is seen locally weekday afternoons at 3 PM on WSFL-TV (CW).

4.  Take away the word ‘like’ from the vocabulary of a typical kid, teenager, and twentysomething – and like … he or she would like … be like … speechless. I’m just sayin’.

5.  Hazy, Hot, and Humid with a High near 100°F. That’s what I can expect during the entire time that I will be in the northeastern suburbia of Dallas Texas later this week into this weekend. Me y mi familia plan to spend a majority of our life and times indoors near working HVACs !

That’s what’s on my mind on this Tuesday night. Thanks for reading !

Saturday Morning Shenanigans

THIS MORNING I awoke wide awake at roughly 5:15 AM. I took a hot shower, put some cool clothes on, and pretty much rushed to the Cracker Barrel in Florida City (where all of the food is) so that I could be there a few minutes after opening time at 6 AM. And I was, and I did – partake in an ENORMOUS breakfast o’ champions consisting of buttery french toast goodness with globs of (near) maple syrup, scrambled eggs with melted swiss cheese, and three hot and tasty sausage links.

I also got a haircut this morning at the legendary Woody’s of Homestead. My brother’s wife told me to do so in preparation of a family portrait next weekend.

Check out this Shenanigan from my E-Mail Inbox:

Anyone want to make any bets as to a successful outcome on this one ?

Survivor, “Texas-Style”

Because of the popularity of the “Survivor” shows, Texas is planning to do a show entitled, “Survivor, Texas-Style.”

1.  The contestants will all start in Dallas, then drive to Waco, Austin, San Antonio, over to Houston, and down to Brownsville.

2.  They will then proceed up to Del Rio, El Paso, Midland, Odessa, Lubbock, and Amarillo.

3.  From there they will go on to Abilene, Fort Worth, and finally back to Dallas.

4.  Each will be driving a pink Volvo with bumper stickers that read: “I’m Gay”, “I Love the Dixie Chicks”, “Boycott Beef”, “I Voted for Obama”, “George Strait Sucks”, “Hillary in 2012”, and “I’m Here To Confiscate Your Guns”.

The first one to make it back to Dallas alive wins.

And now here’s a little diddy from the classic TV series “Hee Haw“:

Those are my ‘Saturday Morning Shenanigans’ for now. Stay tuned for a fresh new edition of the ‘Saturday Night Retro’ later tonight, but first – REMEMBER THIS !

Saturday Night Retro

June 06TH 1985
June 06TH 1985

That’s me and my little brother standing outside our McLean Virginia house exactly 24 years ago today on the 06TH of June in 1985. It’s the date of my high school graduation, and it was just one day after my 18TH birthday. My high school graduation was held at DAR Constitution Hall in Washington D.C. There were about 500 in my graduating ‘Class Of 1985’.

6 days after this momentous event I left home and proceeded to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio Texas for Air Force Basic Military Training. (I had no real Summer that year.)

And now my friends – a real treat. I present to you for your ‘Saturday Night Retro’ review this long lost gem. It’s legendary jazz and blues singer and guitarist Leon Redbone performing the full-length opening theme song of one of the greatest prime time network television sitcoms of the mid-1980s – “Mr. Belvedere”. ENJOY !
