My Fantastic Journey: It’s In The Lyrics

Christmas means so much more to me today on this fantastic journey than it ever did yesterday.

Silent night, holy night,
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon virgin mother and child.
Holy infant so tender and mild,
Sleep in heavenly peace.
Sleep in heavenly peace.

Silent night, holy night,
Shepherds quake at the sight,
Glories stream from heaven afar,
Heavenly hosts sing alleluia;
Christ the Savior, is born !
Christ the Savior, is born !

Silent night, holy night,
Son of God, love’s pure light
Radiant beams from thy holy face,
With the dawn of redeeming grace,
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.
Jesus, Lord, at thy birth.

It’s in the lyrics:

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

1.  I just got home from work about an hour later than normal. We had a GINORMOUS Christmas party at work starting at 3 PM. ‘Twas the mother-of-all all-you-care-to-eat buffets (or as I like to pronounce it – ‘boo-fays’), and there was enough food for 75 of us even though there were only about 25 of us. I ate my fair share of food for myself and two other undetermined people. We also had a fun and hilarious Christmas gift exchange where previously opened gifts were being swiped left and right by the participants. I ended up with a totally awesome (and useful for me) gift. Let’s just say that I can buy food with this gift. I HEARD THAT ONE !

2.  It’s been a ridiculous week of eating for me. I actually went to Shiver’s BBQ for Lunch today just 3½-hours before the start of the Christmas party this afternoon. Yesterday morning I indulged in what amounted to essentially a 10-course Breakfast at the Cracker Barrel. Get this – 2 scrambled eggs with melted swiss cheese, hickory-smoked bacon, sausage patty, sugar-cured ham, hashbrown casserole, fried apples, cinnamon biscuits, sawmill gravy, grits, buttermilk biscuits, coffee, and water. YEAH !  BRING IT !

3.  This past Sunday afternoon me and my girlfriend checked out the hot new Portofino Coal Fired Pizza joint that’s located in the former Atlanta Bread Company restaurant. Portofino clearly poured hundreds of thousands of dollars into the space to make it look real nice and modern. The service was near superb, and the coal-fired pizza was great. I hope this place succeeds. It’s pretty much upscale for Homestead, but I definitely recommend it as long as their service and food remain outstanding. Go check it out and support this hot new local business here in our own hometown.

4.  69 consecutive hours – That’s how long we were stuck in the 50s and 60s here in Homestead from Saturday afternoon through late this (Tuesday) morning. Sunday and Monday were our coldest two days in a row since two similar days way back during the first week of February !  I can’t believe how many people around me were whining and complaining about the cold air invasion. Look for warmer temperatures (day and night) through Christmas Day before it cools back down again late this weekend and into early next week. We could actually be back into the lower-80s on Christmas Day !

5.  Box Office Round-Up – Last Friday night we saw the critically trashed box office flop “Did You Hear About The Morgans ?“. Hugh Grant was sarcastically hilarious (my type of humour), and I thought that it was an “A+” movie. It maintained my undivided attention and entertained me all throughout from start to finish, and that’s what matters to me. It was the 15TH movie of the year for me, and that’s one more than I saw in 2008 – and six more than I saw in 2007. Here’s to more screwball comedies and bone chilling thrillers in 2010 !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

On this bone chilling 58°F Sunday morning in Homestead Florida U.S.A. we – the Life Pointe Church family – gathered corporately to love and praise and worship Him all-together in unison:

– We were all born into sin.
– As the Scriptures say, “No one is righteous — not even one.”
– For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard.
– Sin separates us from God.
– Jesus was tempted by anything and everything that was dark and evil.
– He was just like us.
– But He took the hit for all of our sins.
– He died a brutal death on that cross on that hill.
– He died so that we could be born again and Live again.
– He rescued me and saved me 40 months ago this week.
– He placed me at the front door of my church 35 months ago today.
– He led me to Life Pointe Church to meet other believers – new and old.
– God demonstrated His Love for us by sending Jesus into the world.
– God wore humanity so that we could wear divinity and have eternal Life.
– I am God’s son, and Jesus is my Brother.
– God chose me to follow Him, and I accepted.
– God chooses everyone to follow Him, and He waits for you to accept.
– You may not accept today or tomorrow, but He will always be waiting.
– God will never give up on you.
– It is never too late to accept God’s invitation.
– I accepted a couple of months after my 39TH birthday in 2006.
– There is nothing in this world that compares to God’s Love for me.
– I am made right through my intense faith in my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.
– I am not a Sunday morning trophy of God.
– He did not rescue and save me so that I would obey Him for 4 hours a week.
– He directed me to go out and change the world and expand His Kingdom.
– He has called upon me to be a Disciple to others, and show them the way.
– Walk with me.

1 John 4:7-10 (NLT, 2ND Ed.)
7  Dear friends, let us continue to Love one another, for Love comes from God. Anyone who Loves is a child of God and knows God.
8  But anyone who does not Love does not know God, for God is Love.
9  God showed how much He Loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal Life through Him.
10  This is real Love — not that we Loved God, but that He Loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
