Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s the continuing saga that is my weekly ‘Grab Bag O’ Thoughts’:

1.  Today was an unusually peaceful and quiet day at work. It nearly got boring for me at times. I could have taken a short nap. No not really, but I was actually hoping for some excitement or controversy during the course of the work day today. I got just a little bit of that, but I could have handled even more.

2.  After work this afternoon I ventured over to Homestead‘s fresh new Bed Bath & Beyond for the first time ever. It’s one of my favourite stores in the entire world. Once upon a time no weekend visit to The Shops At Sunset Place in South Miami was complete without a well-orchestrated stop at the Bed Bath & Beyond at Dadeland Station in Downtown Kendall. I could have spent a hundred or so dollars at that joint this afternoon, but I spent a tiny fraction of that instead on a few key items. I may have to return back to the scene of the crime in a few days to take another round-robin tour. YOU KNOW IT !

3.  My nearly year-long search for a new Family Practice Doctor here in the local Homestead area is winding down, and I think that I’ve finally got one selected. My next step is to actually schedule a complete physical with the M.D. (Medical Dude). I hope to do that before the close of this week. My new Doctor will tell me if Lipitor is right for me. I’ve been without it for nearly a year now, and I’m still alive !

4.  I’ve recently discovered JCTV on my AT&T U-verse. It’s just like MTV from about 15 to 20 years ago with lots of music videos shown through the day and into the night and a few shows programmed around the hour-long video blocks. The ‘JC’ in JCTV stands for Jesus Christ, and it’s all about Him. They too (like The Call on the radio) gear all of their content and programming towards the teen and young adult crowd as if there just aren’t any older adults that are closer to my age that need to be rescued and saved by God and ministered to. I knew my blog had a real purpose. This is the purpose driven blog.

5.  This blog will record its remarkable 200,000TH hit (since its inception in 2007) this Thursday night. Thank You everyone for continuing to support this blog by checking it out, reading it, commenting on it, discussing it, and telling all of your friends about it. I do it all for you. It’s a sincere pleasure to be able to share my new Life with each and every one of you. I thank you for sharing your Life with me.

Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– I got home from work shortly after 3 PM this afternoon.
– That’s nearly 6 hours earlier than yesterday’s ‘get-home’ time.
– That’s right – I didn’t get home from work until nearly 9 PM last night.
– I should actually clarify that a bit.
– Not that I really need to, but because I want to.
– I physically worked (mostly at my desk) from 6 AM to 6 PM.
– After that me and my supervisour took our out-of-town guests to dinner.
– Dinner was at Los Ranchos up at The Falls.
– Los Ranchos can be reached on the web at beststeakinmiami.com.
– I don’t know about that ‘best steak in Miami’ claim, but it was pretty good.
– I enjoyed the ‘Churrasco Los Ranchos’.
– That’s a 12-ounce juicy and flavourful center-cut charbroiled tenderloin.
– En Español – Jugoso y tierno corte del centro de filete tender.
– I played hooky from Life Group last night.
– Actually it was an excused absence, as I notified Patricia in advance.
– I’ll be back at Life Group next Wednesday night.
– I received my bill in the mail today for the wind insurance for my home.
– $956.10 for 12 months of coverage – up a mere $7 from last year.
– That’s roughly $2.62 per day.
– The check’s in the mail.
– Next up – the other half of my annual homeowner’s insurance premium.
– Last year it was $754.00.
– I’m anxious to see if that only goes up by a mere $7.
– Well those are my ‘Mini Thoughts’ for this Thursday night afternoon.
– Be sure to catch the ‘Disco Party’ tomorrow night here on the polyester blog.
– Tomorrow night’s edition may quack you up.
– Until then keep it real home skillets.
– Say good night Gracie.

Saturday Night Retro

I had advance-planned a totally different edition of the ‘Saturday Night Retro’ for this weekend to commemorate the 23RD anniversary of my very first LIVE concert event that I attended in my life, but due to the sudden deaths this past week of Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, and Michael Jackson I decided to back-up, regroup, and try something different here that wasn’t so planned.

I haven’t decided yet how I wish to handle the great Ed McMahon, and I’ll address Michael Jackson on a very special edition of the ‘Monday Night Countdown’ in just a couple of days.

As for Farrah Fawcett I found something very unique over on the You Tube. It’s one of my favourite songs while growing up as a kid, and it’s set to the opening credits and various clips of the “Charlie’s Angels” television show of the late-1970s (featuring Farrah Fawcett). The song itself is from Alan O’Day (no relation to me), and it’s his U.S. # 1 gold pop radio smash from exactly 32 years ago –  right around the 4TH of July weekend in 1977.  It’s a memorable singalong pop nugget that reminds me of our family’s frequent summertime road trips from Suburban Washington D.C. across the MAMMOTH Chesapeake Bay Bridge and over onto the quaint beach resorts and long boardwalks of Ocean City Maryland.

Saturday Morning Shenanigans

This morning on the ‘Shenanigans’ it’s an amusing story and some funny cat pics.

So yeah last night at precisely 7:49 PM EDT my dear friend / guardian angel Ms. Ela O. called me up on the telephone to frantically alert me not to take the Zicam to treat my cold (that she had just read about here on my blog). I then told her that I had indeed gone to the Zicam to treat my cold – but that it was NOT the nasal gel or the gel swabs that have been taken off of store shelves because they could (possibly / allegedly) cause loss of smell for life. I’m taking the RapidMelts quick dissolve tablets. Those are safe, and they work great !

The fact that Ela O. took time out of her normal routine to call me up and warn me about Zicam treating my minor cold less than 3 days before she checks in to the hospital for major surgery is truly remarkable. But that’s what Ela is all about. She’s one of the most inspirational gems that I have on this journey. She also makes me laugh like no other. I always love to hear us laughing out loud together.

May God Bless Ela always now and forever, as she continues her enduring fight to physically heal her body. With God in control anything is possible. You just have to believe – and she does.

And now – a trio of very sleepy felines:
