Monday Night Countdown

This week on the hit series ‘Monday Night Countdown’ I present to you my own personal answers to 5 random questions that are frequently addressed on various Myspaces, Facebooks, and blogs all over the interwebs. Enjoy.

1.  Do you like to use post-it notes ?
YES – I love them. They are mandatory accessories on my desk at home and on my desk at work. I even use them in my car. They are one of the greatest human inventions during the course of my lifetime.

2.  Do you always smile for pictures ?
YES – And I’m one of the few people that I know that actually likes to get his picture taken. You guys and gals can document my Life via pictures. I’ll put it all in writing via this blog.

3.  What is your biggest pet peeve ?
Bad drivers. They surround me. They annoy me more than anything else.

4.  Do you ever dance even if there’s no music playing ?
All the time !

5.  Were you ever a Boy Scout ?
YES – 1975 to 1980. Good Times !

Life Pointe Church Sunday Morning Tossed Salad

– Sometimes there are up to 9 Johnsons at Life Pointe Church.
– This morning I could only find one – Anne J.
– Anne J. was armed with several cans of Lysol – one for each hand at a time.
– She was killing movie theatre viruses, germs, mold, and mildew.
– She was eliminating odors on contact.
– My favourite couple – Jonathan & Lillian – arrived a good 2½ hours early.
– They were filling in for Manny and his crew.
– Jonathan & Lillian are typically the best-dressed couple at LPC.
Mark S. hosted during the first service this morning.
Jesse S. led this week’s teaching.
– It was one of the most powerful and inspirational messages in awhile.
– Jesse led a straight-talk conversation, as he shared his Life with us.
– Jesse is one of the most ‘real’ dudes I know on this journey.
– I’m glad that Jesse is an important part of my Life.
– I’m walking with Jesse as we follow God.
– 1 Peter is one of my favourite books of the New Testament.
– 1 Peter 1:23 sums it all up for me:

For you have been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end. Your new Life will last forever because it comes from the eternal, living word of God.

– And then there’s this gem from 1 Peter 2:9:

As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.

– My cornerstone date of rebirthing – August 2006.
– That’s when God rescued me from the darkness and led me into His daylight.
– This journey is so not about us.
– It’s all about Jesus Christ.
– We should inspire the world around us with the Life that we live.
– The world should be able to easily see God’s glory shining through us.
– Shine with me.

Saturday Night Retro

2009 marks the 40TH anniversary of “Sesame Street” on PBS. Over the past 40 seasons over 4,000 one-hour episodes have been produced for kids all around the world. I probably saw a couple hundred of those episodes back in the very early-1970s when it was a brand new innovative show. I watched it on WETA Channel 26 (Washington D.C.) and WMPT Channel 22 (Maryland Public Television).

Picking up those UHF channels was rather tough at times back then (before cable and remotes existed). You had to point that loop antenna atop the TV set in the right direction (towards the big city). You also had to make sure that the circular knob was tuned in just perfectly to the correct channel, and hopefully that knob wouldn’t fall off of the TV set or else you would have to use a pair of pliers to turn the dial. Am I right middle-aged people ?  😆

In honour of “Sesame Street” I present to you for your ‘Saturday Night Retro’ review this unusual treat – “Sesame’s Treet” – a 1992 breakbeat techno version of the show’s classic opening theme song. Get up and dance like a freak !
