Thursday Night Mini Thoughts

– I enjoy doing these ‘Mini Thoughts’ in 15 words or less.
– It’s because I don’t have to form complete sentences.
– These are known as ‘quickies’.
– That’s because each ‘Mini Thought’ takes 3 seconds or less to read.
– And then you move on to the next one.
– These are spontaneous in nature.
– I have no idea what I’m gonna write until I do so.
– The Stock Market has been surging for the past half a month.
– My retirement savings plan is reaping the benefits of the surge.
– The recession has probably ended already.
– We won’t know for sure that it’s already ended for another 6 months or so.
Checkers now has wings.
– I haven’t picked-up Checkers food in about a dozen years.
– Nah it hasn’t been that long – but it’s been many years.
– Once upon a time it was part of my weekly Lunch schedule.
– And then I boycotted the place due to bad service.
– I’ll give them another chance – if only to check out their wings.
– I might see “I Love You, Man” this weekend at the box office.
– If I do then I’m hangin’ at Buffalo Wild Wings beforehand.
– The outside of my screened front porch is a magnet for millions of gnats.
– I sprayed Hot Shot Flying Insect Killer on them this afternoon.
– That should do the trick.
Ruth is one of my favourite rock bands on this journey.
– The’re from Washington State.
– The’re named after their lead singer’s last name.
– ‘RUTH’ is also an acronym for ‘Return Us To Him’.
– They love and follow Jesus.
– In 2007 they brought it with “Cross The Line”.
– In 2008 they rocked my theme song with “Who I Was And Who I Am”.
– In 2009 they hit all the right notes with “Back To The Five”.
– I absolutely adore this song.
– It’s an instant out-of-the-box radio smash !
– Check it out:

Bible Stories

It’s just past 9:30 PM on this Wednesday night as I begin this blog entry, and I returned home from Life Group about 20 minutes ago. It was another glorious night in complete awe of Him. It is never about us. It is always about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Leo D. led ‘Praise & Worship’ via guitar as Patricia, Carol, and I sang back-up vocals to “Above All”, “All Creation Worships You”, “You’re Worthy Of My Praise”, and “Let My Words Be Few”. Music is one of my fun hobbies in Life, and it makes it so very special when I can sing to God. He is always listening to me. 31 months ago God used music to rescue me from the darkness, save me, and lead me by His hand onto His journey that He created especially for me. He took something that He knew I enjoyed, and He used it to show me His light.

Tonight’s teaching (led by Leo D.) was based on the following truths out of the Good News:
– Galatians 5:16-26 – ‘Living By The Spirit’s Power’
– Ephesians 6:10-20 – ‘The Whole Armor Of God’
– Matthew 5:3-12 – ‘The Beatitudes’

‘The Whole Armor Of God’ is truly special to me, as it was one of the first Scriptures out of His Good News that I specifically set out to read many times over, analyze, understand its meaning, and learn how I can apply it to this precious new Life of mine. That was early on during this fantastic journey just about 2 years ago. Anne J. was one of my early Life Pointe Church mentors during this fragile period of my journey. Shortly after I bought my very first Bible ever (New Living Translation – recommended by another mentor Pastor Travis) Anne J. bought me a really nice cover to protect my Bible. Down at the bottom of the front of the cover there’s an inscription of a sword followed by ‘Eph. 6:17’.

Ephesians 6:17 – Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

I will always wear ‘The Whole Armor Of God’ to protect me from future invasions of evil and darkness. Satan doesn’t know who I am anymore, but that’s not going to stop him from trying even harder to bring me back to his world of sins. He’s a total loser. God’s in charge here. He’s all-powerful. He’s awesome !

Tuesday Night Grab Bag O’ Thoughts

It’s the longest-running episodic weekly series in the entire history of this blog:

1.  So far March in America’s Riviera has been windy and soggy – and that’s a good thing considering the fact that November, December, January, and February were pretty much chilly and arid extra dry. This morning I drove through a ferocious rainstorm in the dark. It lasted all but three minutes, but I thought that I was either gonna drown or blow away to Kansas during the peak of it.

2.  I’m allergic to a bunch of things to include cologne and freshy cut grass. They make me sneeze. I don’t wear cologne. I don’t need to. I smell fresh and delightful naturally primarily because I take regular showers. Some people use cologne in lieu of bathing. They make me sneeze. Oh yeah – and they smell nasty.

3.  I moved over to my current workplace on base almost 20 months ago. I don’t have very many ‘low’ days, but of the ones that I’ve had they’ve all been far better than my ‘high’ days at my previous workplace on base of over 13 unlucky years. My career renaissance continues.

4.  Exactly 22 years ago tonight (on March 24TH 1987) I saw British musician Howard Jones LIVE in concert at London England’s historic Royal Albert Hall. That place has been standing there for nearly 140 years (since 1871).

5.  Last year March 24TH was the Monday after Easter Sunday. This year Easter Sunday occurs on April 12TH. That’s because it’s the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the 21ST of March. (The full moon occurs on April 09TH.)

That’s what I’ve got for you for this week. Be sure to check out my ‘Mini Thoughts’ this Thursday night here on the big green blog. You won’t regret it pal.

Monday Night Countdown

This week I present the TOP 5 nicknames for my brother Danny:

5.  Funny Guy – My brother is the funniest guy in the entire world, and he laughs at all of my jokes (and vice versa). His sense of ‘huma’ is virtually identical to mine.

4.  Peanut Head – Simply put – my brother’s head is in the shape of a peanut – a large peanut – a George Lopez sized peanut.

3.  Little One – Up until about 16 years ago I was taller than my brother, and then he reached and surpassed my height by perhaps a half an inch or so.

2.  Bunky – Our Dad came up with this nickname as far back as 30 years ago. I don’t know where it came from. Perhaps it’s a variation of ‘Bunker’ as in ‘Archie Bunker’.

1.  Banny – A simple and innocent typographical error online introduced this long-running nickname for my brother. It also spawned his # 1 favourite nickname for me – ‘Biss’ / ‘Bissy’.

You just don’t know how hard I’m laughing out loud right about now !  😆
